And apparently the Hughes Co State’s Atty just dropped the bomb on Chad Haber

Here we go again….

Only #5? Bah!
I asked for sharks with laser beams!

Apparently, Chad Haber has now been charged with offering a false or forged instrument,  after being indicted by a Hughes County Grand Jury.

According to what Gordon Howie has posted on his website, Haber was served papers from the Hughes County State’s Atty on Saturday, and is set to go to court three weeks from today.

Interestingly, it looks like the Grand Jury indictment was issued way back on the 11th/13th of August. I’m not sure if it took them until now to find Chad, or if they were waiting to see if the felony indictment against Annette stuck.

Interestingly, the character witnesses against Haber might take a darker turn, based on allegations going back nearly a decade over him obtaining a $200,000 loan, but “not having a time table for paying it back.”

I did ask the AG if they intend to do a release on it, and they pointed out it was the Hughes County State’s Attorney who brought the charge. But, somehow I question if Hughes County is going to prosecute it by themselves.

But anyway, sit back, and start popping that popcorn. Here we go again.

  1. It’s too bad this will be all that he is charged for. Wonder if the Bosworth groupies will mobilize again for a disinformation, distraction and victimization campaign.

  2. We should hope that nothing becomes of this. I would hate to see some of my very good friends, with very good hearts who want to see good government, who often circulate petitions for various causes and candidates get charged with perjury just because some individual outside a courthouse wrote a false name on their form. The system needs to be changed before Boz’s people and democrats make it a mission to find false names on petitions and call for people’s heads.

    1. Um, did you pay attention to the trial at all? Any of it?

Someone writing a false name on a petition had nothing to do with the charges against either of them. In any way, whatsoever.

What they’re getting spanked for is when Annette and Chad swore an oath that they circulated certain petitions when it was physically impossible for them to do so, because they were halfway across the planet at the time.

      1. Pat, the news reports state that there was a false name(s) on a petition that Haber circulated.

From today’s Argus Leader: “…one felony count of perjury after turning in a petition nominating his wife Annette Bosworth that included false or forged signatures.”

This should be very concerning for ANYONE circulating petitions.

      2. I haven’t seen anything that indicates that Chad is being accused of doing the same thing that Annette was rightfully found guilty of. From all media reports it showing that he submitted petitions with false names on them. It seems like Chad is being charged with the same thing as Clay Walker. From the AP “Authorities indicted Walker in June 2014 for submitting nominating petitions that included names of dead people, fictitious people and Hollywood celebrities, . . .” If that’s the case than people better be very careful about circulating petitions and be sure that they personally know the person circulating.

I’m not a defender of the Haber/Bosworth escapades, but I don’t want to this precedent to be used against good Republicans who might have a singular bad signature on a petition that they circulate.

          1. This is about new charges against Chad Haber, announced recently in the media and charged in August 2015. Perhaps you could look into the specific charges against Haber and make a post about it as there seems to be confusion. This old story you linked by David Montgomery is not what we are talking about now. It seems, as the previous commenter said, these charges against Haber are similar charges as Walker – turning in a petition with a false name. So again, as others here have also said, so that petition circulators do not risk being charged with perjury, we should either 1) Be very apprehensive about circulating petitions and only accept signatures from people we know, 2) Require photo ID before allowing anyone to sign a petition that we may be circulating, or 3) Advocate that the system be changed.

            1. Misty, trust me. What I posted – the single petition from 2014 – is what he’s being charged over. Any assertion other than that is erroneous.

In fact, if you look at the indictment by the grand jury, it proves I am absolutely 100% correct:

It’s based on the oath and petition signed on 3/25/14, as I’ve noted in my linked post.

              Please note the date…. 3/24/14.

Haber is being charged with what his wife was. Not with what Walker was. Again, any information to the contrary is in error.
