Going…. Going…. Gone? RUMOR: KSFY General Manager Forced out?
Word on the street is that a staff member at KSFY is looking for Job.
Prepare yourselves for the rejoicing of convenience store thieves and Elvis “Jake” Hanes – Could it be true that KSFY’s Wheel of felons may be coming to an end?
I’m told by my spies in the Sioux Falls Media that Kelly Manning, General Manager at KSFY TV has been forced out of his position.
No word on what that’s going to mean in terms of their NEW ACTION ORIENTED NEWS COVERAGE (which always seems to take place in all caps).
But we might hold out a glimmer of hope that the exceptionally stupid wheel of felons might have seen it’s final days.
And if it hasn’t….. that might be a good way for the next guy to come along to bring some respectability back to the station.
Update – I’m also hearing that News Director John Shelby is now acting as GM and Allen acting as News Director.

Manning was not the reason they have tanked in the ratings, the news director, John Shelby is. I’d imagine his walking papers are in the mail as well.
We’ve got to find an alternative to KELOLAND’s liberal women-issues juggernaut, so I hope they get somebody good in there.
That whole action news schtick wore out its welcome in the 1980s. If I watch the news, I want to be informed… flashy graphics and special effects and “Wheel of Felons” don’t inform me.
What is wrong with the world today when we are afflicted with things like Greenpiece and Wheel of Felons? Back in my day we had ways of dealing with stuff like that. The libs running the Wheel show wouldn’t think of doing it again, and lets hope this fellow has learned his lesson too.
That young fellow looks very much like a libby, too, but with a shorter haircut and thicker neck we might make something of him.

There are so many things wrong with KSFY; but, for starters they should reconsider the hiring of Drew Sandholm. That would be an instant improvement.
I’ve quite watching any of the news channels. They are just week. Koolaid Keloland doesn’t know that there are any roads that leave Sioux Falls, so they never report on anything beyond the city limits, unless the Argus accidentally bumps into any news beyond the city limits, then we have the HEALTH-NAZI report, if I happen to watch that my wife has to get a bib so I won’t drool on my shirt. I’ve tried to watch KDLT, but they are basically a carbon copy of KELO. KSFY – I just can’t watch it either, they have a tendency to be alittle over the top. Shawn would be a good lead-man if they could revamp the whole program. I personally would make if a 15 minute show, weather 7 1/2 minutes, balance would be news and sports. Unless you have Tim Johnson on then you’ll have to add 15 minutes to the program – if you know what I mean. I just heard him on the radio – how can he be effective. Steven Hawkins(sp) can communicate better with his computer then Tim. Let the thin skinned name calling liberals loose.

I’ve worked with Kelly. He’s a great guy and I’m sad to see this happen to him. I think some of your criticism should be aimed at the news director who has direct control over the content of the nightly news.
John Shelby has ruined every station he has touched, and ruined all relationships with police and fire departments because of his nasty tabloid antics.
Do your research before you hire this man. He is a PR nightmare that treats everyone like total crap. Just call one or two ex-employees and you will never touch this short little man with a ten foot pole!!!!!!!
They should hire a guy who knows what is going on, Pat Powers!
