After running for Governor for two and a half years, Lt. Governor Dennis Daugaard is announcing that yes, he is running for Governor and has sent out e-mail notices indicating he is doing an announcement tour on Monday and Tuesday:

I’m writing to let you know that I will be officially announcing my candidacy for Governor on Monday, October 5 and Tuesday, October, 6.

As you know, over the past couple of years, Linda and I have been working to lay the groundwork for a successful campaign for Governor in 2010. During this phase, our efforts have been focused on meeting potential supporters, organizing volunteers, and raising funds.

Our campaign is now ready to move to the next phase. My announcement tour will begin at my family’s farmplace and will continue to six other sites over two days. I expect each event to last no more than half an hour.

Glad his family run team is ready to get out there and get going.

I think he wait til now as he is unemployed.

Is he flying?

Which fat cat Republican is paying for that?

And John, family run? Try “Lawrence and Schiller” run.

We should name this campaign the L&S SOS campaign: The “Lawrence and Schiller Save our State contracts” campaign.

Dennis is a nice guy but we don’t need another round of Rounds. Hopefully Dennis can find a good paying job outside of politics.

PP
Your “other job” and your bias is showing.

Anon 8:41 you bring back memories of 2001. The “Hit Men” are at it again I see. Let the turf wars begin I guess!!

Dennis and Linda are two very nice people. Meet them and I am positive you will agree, you might not agree with his ideas on how to best run the State Government, but he is still an awesome guy.

Dennis needs to show his plan for South Dakota.

“Voter” –

Did you read it here, or somewhere else?

Exactly.

Anyone facing off against Dennis will have a tough road. I recently listened to him at a fundraiser and I must agree his appeal is extremely broad and genuine. He relates well to people and they all feel a connection to his life story.

I agree he needs to layout a clear plan for SD and I’m sure it will happen in the coming weeks.

Let’s face it this isn’t the Giuliani Florida strategy!

Actually I read it several places before I read it here. Only here it came with a less than positive spin–which is normal for a blogger who has already signed on to another campaign–so….I’m just sayin’…..

Tammy, it was posted with purely factual information and no commentary. Any spin is in the eye of the beholder.

Voter, me thinks you protest too much.

I am undecided on my choice for Governor at this time and I see know spin or anything negative. Maybe what was missing was Pat jumping up and down and saying Alleluiah.

Why didn’t you do that Pat? :)

Because I said I’d keep my opinion about the GOP opposition to myself.

Now, it’s a different matter when it comes to Heide-spin……

Living in SF, (and SD) I am tired of nice guys with no vision or political skills. And Dennis has more family on the payroll at this point than any other candidate for Gov.

The real question is will Dennis pay himself out of ccampaign funds now that he is unemployed?

John he won’t have to use campaign funds. His rich friends will set up some gift fund to keep him in beans.

Who cares I’m sure a lot of people pay themselves out of funds raised.
Plus I’m pretty sure Munsterman’s daughter works for his campaign also. I think that is great! I don’t see anything wrong with that. Maybe the only frustration I’ve heard from people is that to many candidates are hiring out of state campaign teams to win an SD race and hiring family at this point but it’s early. Kudos to Munsterman for not hiring out of state!

Let me know if I’m wrong. Thanks!

P.S. I hope Nelson, Krebs and Curd don’t all hire an out of state campaign team. I just think it looks silly! Maybe their isn’t anyone with knowledge to do it in SD though? Plus i think the out of staters don’t get SD politics or the average voter here.

If you statred in west river and worked your way East instead of working east to west you would save money , but yuor a republican i toally understand.

As someone said before, “Let the Turf Wars Begin”, by an anon spotter on this blog, (Can we do that on your blog PP or should we open up?) this has all the makings of an ugly; and I mean really ugly and messy and costly primary battle for Governor of our fantastic state we South Dakotan’s get to call home.

We are one damn smart bunch of folks. Few have ever sold us a bill of goods deemed horrible after the fact and the guy was in the office of Governor. Yet we do find much to argue about even though most of us are in the middle third of the political spectrum.

What SD really needs now is a leader who condones government run from the bottom up; instead of from the top down. The “Rule of Law”; LOW TAXES, and reliable fast transportation of goods and services are what drives any capitalistic society. Tax an entity and you cause it to shrink; grant money to an entity and it grows. Daugaard understands this American concept and why it is the reason we are the leader in the Free World!

Everyone that knows, heard or met Daugaard understands that he’s a ‘good man.’ He has a great story.

I’m sorry but that doesn’t differentiate him from 99% of SD and certainly doesn’t qualify him to be governor.

Where is the list of his tour of small towns? Is that yet to be set up?

I wonder who will announce at the state GOP dinner for congress?

I hope there are a lot of announcements this week!
