More from Politico on Red State Dems and the Tuesday elections
From Politico, it looks like no matter how the national dems are trying to spin it, some Red State Dems aren’t so happy with the turn of events:
Election Day losses in Virginia and New Jersey have congressional Democrats focused like never before on jobs — their own.
While the White House and party leaders are urging calm, Democratic incumbents from red states and Republican-leaning districts are anything but; Tuesday’s statehouse defeats have left them acutely aware that their votes on health care reform and other major Obama initiatives could be career-enders in 2010 or beyond.
“I should be nervous,” said Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Huntsville, Ala.
and….
“We got walloped,” said Sen. Mark Warner, the junior Democrat from Virginia.
The article talks about how Nancy Pelosi is hellbent to ramrod a vote through as early as this weekend on Pelosicare/Obamacare at the same time some of her rank and file is terrified at the notion. And South Dakotans will finally see the path our own congresswoman plans on travelling down…

I think Virginia’s election was the most telling because it rejected the trust given to moderate/conservative Democrats by the people of this country.
Voters have learned that a vote for a blue dog dem is a vote for Nancy Pelosi & Socialism.
Why Herseth-Sandlin voted for Pelosi for speaker is beyond me if she is truly moderate.
Pickles,
IF Congress passes their agenda on Health Insurance (not health care) and Cap & Tax, expect not only change in Congressional power but a reversal of their agenda, as well.
billyboy
wishfull thinking…
There will be a change but realisticly not a big enough one to reverse what will be enacted.
Like you I hope they don’t succeed with their agenda. But I think Obama is more determined in his plans than we give him credit. He is relentless and does not change coarse.
Pickles,
He may well be as determined as you think, but the anger of the electorate is real. If the Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda gets rammed through without the support of the people, there will be payback. Sometimes it seems like legislation, once passed, is forever but that’s not necessarily the case.

If I was a big liberal I’d ram my crap through with reconciliation! This is the one chance in 50 years to get this stuff passed.
They will lose many members like Herseth-Sandlin in red states but Obama and Pelosi have an agenda that is bigger than a few red state dems. Those people can always be replaced in a few cycles but the legislative agenda is now or not for another 50 years.
