Dems advocating no money, and no volunteers for Stephanie

Todd Epp over at SD Watch/Middle Border Sun is starting a Democratic party movement to punish congresswoman Herseth for having no convictions other than to get elected:

But what do Stephanie and other politicians understand? First and foremost, money. And secondly, volunteers.

I suggest a far more effective way to get SHS’s attention is for Democrats to not donate a single dime to her in this election cycle. Nothing, nada, bupkis. While Stephanie will still raise tons of corporate money, if here in-state money is low, that will send a message to her and more importantly, her Republican challengers, that she has a South Dakota problem.

And secondly, if you are a Democrat, sit out volunteering for her this cycle. She’s pretty good about not attending things like the 2008 S.D. Democratic Convention. If she can take a powder, why not the rest of us for one election?

Ultimately, these are probably stupid, futile gestures on somebody’s part, but we’re just the people to do them. They likely won’t cost Stephanie her seat in Congress. But I guarandamntee you it will get her attention.

PP, you know enough about campaigns to know you need a bunch of dedicated, excited volunteers to help. Health care reform is a huge issue for her loyal liberal supporters and her vote against is is very frustrating. It certainly lessens my excitement for her upcoming campaign.

While I would still prefer her over any conservative Republican in that seat, she’s making it very difficult to justify any further support.

I didn’t plan to help her this election cycle anyway!

For every democrat supporter she loses,
She gains a republican

I still don’t think this is going to hurt her. She can make the excuse that she is pro-choice and the House bill enshrines the Hyde Amendment.

7:25 makes a good point.

Only a RINO is going to support Herseth!

As Todd says this effort will take “stupid, futile gestures” and the Democrats are just the folks for that! – lol

You still cannot beat her.

The less young Ms. Sandlin says the more I like her. But I’m an old Republican from days gone by and it’s unlikely I am the demographic she is trying to attract.

I won’t be voting for her or volunteering for her either.

For a minute I remember having some similar thoughts about Thune not supporting Dykstra or Lien or Whalen or the SD GOP.

I got over it and so will the SD Dems. Politicians faults diminish the shine but deep down there is something about them we really do agree with and believe in. Even if they sometimes make us feel they’ve forgotten we were a part of the reason they are where they are.

Epp, Madville, and the other disillusioned lefties:
Answer this question.

Are you REALLY going to abandon Steffi, the poster child for the pro-choicers, in favor of a GOP candidate who is pro-life? Anti-gay marriage? Whatever?

Ain’t gonna happen. Will believe it when I see it.

You guys are all talk and no action. If you were serious, you would find somebody to primary her.

Anon,

Maybe Todd and Corey aren’t single issue voters.

2:24, maybe, but I’d be interested to hear that from them.

And why won’t somebody primary her if there are so many Dems who are supposedly upset?
