There are so many theories of “truth” that you’d strangle yourself with your ponytail trying to grasp centuries of philosophers’ understandings of “truth.” The way you fling the word around in the blogosphere (eg. “In Search of the Truth”) is a mockery of intellectual and philosophical minds.

No Todd, it is a dirty job and not popular in today’s environment, but the Truth needs to be told. And by holding up a mirror to your rhetoric should have taught you some truth by now.

Unfortunately you continue to accuse me of things that you yourself violate. Thin skin…get a mirror Todd.

If you hope to be a legislator in Pierre, you’re going to need to learn to not scorch the earth that your opponents stand on concerning every little thing. At some point, shouting at others becomes white noise. You get tuned out.

If I thought every Republican I disagreed with was crazy, there wouldn’t be enough room in Yankton for them all. Even the Johnson Wolf Packers, I don’t think most of them are crazy, just mean-spirited.

Also, if I hated everyone who disagreed with me, I’d be a pretty lonely guy. Even my wife disagrees with me on a pretty regular basis, not to mention my daughter. Same thing with my Republican friends. Do I disagree with PP on many things? Sure. Do I hate him? No. In fact, I rather like him. Same with Greg Belfrage. Same with a lot of Republicans, who, if I mentioned their names, you’d be quite surprised.

Even John Thune. I don’t hate John, I basically just don’t agree with anything he says or does. But I don’t spend my waking hours hating Sen. Thune. What’s the point? He doesn’t care whether I like him or not. It’s just a waste of karma to be that pissed off all the time.

Steve, did you ever play sports or debate in high school or college? In my debate, soccer, basketball, running, and swimming days, I really wanted to beat my opponents. But did I hate them? Absolutely not. In fact, I was friends with most of them. Didn’t mean a few elbows didn’t get thrown once in a while on court or on the field.

Same as a lawyer. If I hated every lawyer who was on the other side of a case, who would be left? We litigate like hell, try to treat each other civilly, then accept the court’s decision. Then move on to the next case where we might be on the same side.

Steve, yes, I’m a smartass. And a sarcastic asshole at times. But you don’t seem to have much of a sense of humor. PP and I give each other crap all the time. Belfrage and I go at each other with glee. Blanchard is a worthy and funny opponent. (I.E., the recent photo of the torpedo called an EPP. Laughed my ass off.) There are other foils in the GOP who I love to go up against because they are not only smart, they are witty, quick on their feet, and, when it is all said and done, good people you want to drink a beer or have a coffee with.

So, yes, I sometimes feel like you throw me softballs and I can’t resist swinging hard at them. My bad. Must. Not. Respond. Must. Hold. Tongue.

Steve, you are who you are. Maybe just be a little less of it at times here in the blogosphere. Ok?
