You guys are one in a million (page views, that is.)
One Million Page Views.
I’ve got to say it again just to make myself believe it. My website has been looked at 1 million times since February 2005.
Thank you. From the bottom of my heart.
Yes, yes. I know. Some of you are going to say that it’s not a big deal in the overall scheme of things. In fact it’s a very small thing, in light of some sites getting that many page views in a month. But to me, it means I must be doing something right. It’s a “hey, that’s great” arising from something I originally started for my own personal reasons. In fact, I thought it was so insignificant, that I didn’t even tell my wife about it for several months, almost out of embarrassment that I thought it was nothing special.
It’s come full circle from nobody noticing me, to people looking and wondering “what the hell I was doing taking about inside secret political stuff.” And it went from that to a point where some people liked it, and others not so much.
I even had a person or two who “didn’t like it so much” actually take action to try to shut me down. (Yes, you know who you are.) Didn’t work, did it?
In fact, I’m happy to say that all it did was to steel my resolve. And every month, it seems like this website, and the state of the SD Blogosphere is getting better.
Thanks to the guys (and gals) at SDP, SD Watch, Sibby Online, Mt Blogmore, CCK, and all the other blogs who inspired me to add my own voice to the mix 30 months ago. I might have agreed with you or disagreed with you, but you’re the reason I’m here.
And thanks to the commenters. You might alternately gush ridiculously about me, and on the other hand absolutely trash me (somewhere in the middle is preferable, BTW). And there might be a time or two I deserve the latter. But you’re the reason it’s fun doing this. I especially take my hat off to you for making this site an OK place to be.
And thanks to those who care about and are involved in the political process. Either side gets to win a few, and sometimes they have to lose a few. And sometimes we might get a little too passionate about it.
But let me be clear – no matter what your political persuasion is, your participation is what keeps our democracy strong.
Thanks to all of you.
Now, that’s one million website views… Who will give me two?

How long have you had that speech written, since hit 50K?
It doesn’t matter how much you want to pat yourself on the back, there are those of us who think your real accomplishment will be that you are destined to become the first SD Blogospherian elected to statewide office.
PP rulz
PP is better of ruling the blogosphere than the state. PP would be just another brick in the Republican wall if he had a state job.
Democrats are what we need in statewide offices, in the Senate and in the House. If only to stop or slow down the insanity of the right-wing nutjobs.
PP used to have a state job, where they were grooming him for future political glory.
He rules the blogosphere now, and the state in the future.
Patti:
Respectfully, there are those of us who think we need a few more fiscally conservative Republicans in statewide offices to slow down “the Democratic nut-jobs” who want to impose an income tax on us.
#5 – GAHHH!!!
The only thing anyone was grooming me for was being a mushroom.
Rule the state? Nah.
Actually, after making it to a national convention, there’ s only a couple more political mountains I’d like to climb in my life.
Maybe someday in the next 20-30 years, if I don’t expire from diet coke poisoning, I’d love to be in the legislature for a term or two.
Otherwise, ever since I worked there in 1988 and 1990, I’ve always had a sick interest in being GOP state party director. Possibly because I’ve gotten passed by several times on it, and DAMMIT, I know I could do it.
But if neither of them happen, I’m still ok with it. I’d be just as happy jamming on my keyboard blogging by day and helping out my friends when they need an extra hand in the campaign season.
3. I didn’t write that. What a strange thing to have someone else posting under my name. I hope you keep it funny and harmless.
Way to go, pp. You have an ever expanding grassroots following and a pretty clear understanding of the role you can play in the next generation of information technology. Your site here is about as egalitarian as possible (which of course makes you a liberal, and subject to attacks from Steve Sibson and the uber-right) but what the hey… Now, if you would just let your old pal from Hermosa back on, using his own name… you’d get to that next million in no time flat.
Congrats PP!
Keep up the good work and keep the numbers climbing.
Agree or not you add something to the debate.
Did you see I had my 100th page view of the day today Pat on SD Watch?! Yea!
I kid because I love.
Yes, you’re doing lots of things right for a smartalecky Republican except for your voter registration.
On a serious note, your blog is excellent and has changed how we discourse about politics in this state. You even break news. I also know you’ve worked hard to make this an interesting place to come, visit, and hang out.
Congratulations on a job well done!
Todd Epp
14. Ok, I kid because I love too, Todd… (Some of you more than others…) I bet PP wouldn’t trade the two of us for 20 Sibbys.
76 Todd Epps lead the big parade,
As 510 Sibbettes whine behind…
And the Re-pub-li-can in-ter-net web-site begins
(With the help of the li-ber-als) to shine.

And yeah, we got trouble…right here in Rapid City!

Congrats PP.
