Glad that precedent has been set.

Over at the Northern Valley Beacon, Dr. Newquist announces to the world the new Democratic standards for communicating with your constituents:

Ultimately, if journalism is to survive as the Fourth Estate, new rules about the privacy of public figures will have to be established. Until then, savvy media consultants may have to lie a bit.

Yup. According to David, it’s now OK to lie.  Glad that’s cleared up in time for the next election.

A bit? How about the Bush administration? I’d call that lying a bunch.

They admit it! Nuff said

And you have shown that Republicans endorse dishonest quotation. His post is not about lying. It’s about how we may have to handle mean and dishonest bloggers. Here is the whole paragraph which contains the last sentence that makes the point:

“Ultimately, if journalism is to survive as the Fourth Estate, new rules about the privacy of public figures will have to be established. Until then, savvy media consultants may have to lie a bit. Or have the courage to tell the media when to bug off.”

No, TJ’s office admitted it. How else do you think anyone found out about it? Plus, it didn’t take subpoenas and a congressional investigation. The lies of the Bush administration will still be emerging 30 years from now.
Ok, now, that’s nuff said.

Vicki, if you didn’t notice, I posted a link to the source material so people may judge for themselves.

Regardless, David is endorsing lies to the media and by extension, the electorate.

Sorry. I don’t cotton to that very well.

PP, David is simply keeping consistent with ideals of his heroes in the Klinton administration.

Did you read the headline?!?! Is that guy over at Northern implying that he has the ability to see “eye” to eye?

Wasn’t this “precedent” set during the Clinton years?? I recall a buzz in the media and Time magazine reporting that it was “OK to lie.”

“I never had sexual relations with that woman…”

I think the precedent you talk about was set in the Reagan administration. Remember when they claimed they only sent “parts” to Iran, and it turns out they sent complete weapons? (Then they used the proceeds to fund the contras despite a law prohibiting that.)

Fast forward to now. When our military claims the Iranians are supplying weapons to the insurgents in Iraq, how do you think they know that? The weapons the insurgents are using against our troops are some of those that Reagan shipped to Iran.
