Gov. Rounds Appoints Gosch as
District 32 representative to legislature

PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Mike Rounds has appointed Brian Gosch, Rapid City, as a District 32 Republican member of the House of Representatives.

“I am very pleased that Brian Gosch has agreed to fill the vacant position in the South Dakota House of Representatives,” said Gov. Rounds. “I have known Brian since 2002 and know that he and his wife, Heather, have been active members of the Rapid City community. He will do a great job representing the people of District 32 in Pennington County.”

Brian Gosch, a native of Aberdeen, S.D., is a 1993 graduate of The University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., and a 1996 graduate of the University of South Dakota Law School in Vermillion.

After law school, Gosch worked as a lawyer for Black Hills Legal Services. Since 1998, he has worked as a lawyer for South Dakota Advocacy Services.

“I am greatly honored Governor Rounds has the confidence in me to represent the interests of District 32,” said Gosch. “I look forward to the challenge and helping him make South Dakota even better.”

Gosch and his wife, Heather, have 5 children, Anthony (13), Leah (12), Erika (6), Jocelyn (4), and Easton (3½ weeks).

He fills the vacancy left by Alan Hanks.

Oh my gosch!

Anybody know anything else about Mr. Gosch? Is he a liberal, moderate or conservative Republican? Has he been involved in politics before? I had thought from the beginning that Rounds would NOT pick a conservative, so I’m just wondering whether I’m right or not.

WHITESPACEBLOGALERT

I have known Brian Gosch since we were in law school, and also while we both served on the consumer protection committee of the State Bar – where Brian still serves. He will make an excellent legislator, and I look forward to working with him this next year.

Well, if Rich Engels is a fan, that’s good enough for me.

Engels’ recommendation tells me all I need to know about Mr. Gosch!

Brian Gosch is an excellent choice. Heather, his wife, would have also made an excellent choice. Brian has been very active working on behalf of those with disabilities. He has also been active on many fronts for the Black Hills Community. This is all before you get to the fact that he is a rock-solid Republican who is ruled by common-sense. Great Choice!

I suppose he is the next best thing to a state employee legislator. I can’t believe that a private sector individual couldn’t be found. Those that work for nonprofits have no uinderstanding of what makes our economy tick. The only thing they really understand is how to beg.

EXCELLENT CHOICE! Brian is a conservative has the common sense to be a great leader.

#8 Give me a break. The guy dedicates his life to helping the less fortunate and you still find a way to rip him. Put the partisanship aside and give the guy a chance.

I seriously expected to find PP moving to Rapid to sell real estate so Rounds could appoint him.

Never really heard of Brian Gosch before. If he is a Republican with common sense, he is a rare Republican indeed.

Brian is a great choice and judging by the hateful comments already being made here and on the Journal’s “rapid responses”, he will do a great job. Hats off to Rounds for making this choice.

I know Brian and he will do an excellent job. For those of you who don’t know him, you are in for a very pleasant surprise. He is a conservative Republican who has dedicated his professional career helping the disabled.

Did Sen. Johnson really criticize Mike Johanns for not giving farmers a two weeks notice and for not being on the job for the conclusion of the farm bill?

Brian Gosch goes to my church and I live in his district. He will make a great Represenative, congrats, and God Bless.

why did his wife quit PC Republican Women’s group?

16: she quit because some of the other ladies didn’t quite groom the same section of the sandbox.

Probably because it is controlled by a bunch of rightwingnuts.

Brian is Ken Gosch’s son, an attorney at the BantzGosch firm in Aberdeen. He comes from a large, close-knit family, and while I don’t know him personally, you won’t meet any more dedicated parents than his. The family has a strong work ethic, and have been very dedicaged and faithful members of the Wisconsin Syond Lutheran Church, and boosters of Great Plains Lutheran High School here in Watertown.

PS Ken may be one of the most solid reasoned conservatives I know, which includes the ability to deliver a critical assessment to the GOP when they falter – he is the definition of a straight shooter – can’t imagine his children being any different (and getting to come home for Christmas :) )

18. Would much rather be a rightwingnut than paranoid, bitter, miserable loony lefty.

Inexperienced. Clueless. All too willing to lap the shoes of his bosses. Just like the clown who appointed him.

I’ve never seen a happy go lucky rightwingnut. Such an animal does not exist. Bill O’Reilly, Ann Counter, Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh etc etc. all seem to be the most bitter, petty, paranoid nutjobs I’ve evern seen. They think terrorists are everywhere you know!

Good grief! Sounds to me like Patti M must have a miserable life !

22 from 20. Who said anything about “happy-go-lucky”? Loony lefties are the paranoid ones..and wiretapper under every rock. They (and you) need to get a life instead of re-living 2000 and 2004 over and over and over.

Separated at birth: Lee Schoenbeck and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Draw that beard on Schoenbeck’s picture, you’ll be a believer. A true believer. Like the radical Christian and the Radical Muslim twins.

On a related note, Schoenbeck vouches for a new legislator he doesn’t know because the fellow’s family are ideologically pure, and faithful churchgoers. In his own country, brother Mahmoud applies the same criteria.

Don’t have the guts to put your name on 25, eh? (I think I know, but I won’t out you.) In the same vein as the “There’s something you should know about Sam Kooiker” mailing (brilliant but below the belt), I’ll bet that if Lee runs for anything in the future, there will be a mailing picturing him with a Ahmadinejad beard.
