Yes, but what does that do for South Dakota?
The South Dakota Democrat’s Blog Badlands Blue (written by the guy from Virginia) is crowing about Tim Johnson’s introduction of a reform measure for the redistricting process, forcefully telling us that “Fortunately, Tim Johnson’s on top of it…”
Despite the fact that even Tim Johnson’s staff has to admit it doesn’t mean squat to South Dakota:
Sometimes when you have nothing to lose or gain, you are in a position to simply do the right thing. South Dakota doesn’t face redistricting, but it’s clear that political games are being played elsewhere,” Johnson said.
Read that all here. Mark that one down next to “Herseth’s trip to Greenland” in The book of things that don’t mean anything to South Dakota.

We really need somebody who can do the job in Washington. Johnson should be honest, he’s in recovery. We need somebody full time.
Off topic, I know. But why does Sibby hate sports?
I’m sorry for the quasi-topic question, but kinda seems like this whole thread is about Steffy and Tim being off topic. So there, now my question is on topic.
Whatever you say, PP. Because everybody knows there are no gerrymandering problems in SD, right Bruce?

Someone stands up and does the right thing and you still blast him for it??
Congrats Tim on proposing something that should have been done when the Founding Fathers set up our government. They could have never imagined the bs partisanship that we have today and that this would even be an issue.
5. Fleming, good post. Let me share some more.
State Senator Dick Hagen didn’t want erasers to District 27, nor did Rep. Paul Valandra (and others). Both were of District 27 and both Democrats.
Paul wrote in a lengthy column that Indians are to “lazy” to vote and that District 27 would lose its “Indian” representation if erasers were made.
A dozen or more state lawmakers asked me what should be done about District 27 shortly after Hagen passed away. I said follow the law. The GOP lawmakers I spoke with were following the reason of Hagen. Hagen told me this himself long before he died. The GOP wanted “Indian” representation in state legislature or risk being called racist.
I wanted the District erased because it was a disservice to the voting process and gave false assurances to “Indian” voters.
After Hagen died the ACLU pounced and made it look like the GOP was stacking “Indians”. They were in my opinion. That is how Hagen wanted it.
It wasn’t about Indian representation. It was making sure Democrats were guaranteed a seat and the GOP was fooled over it. I ran as a Republican and was beat by a blue-eyed-pale-skinned “Indian” Democrat.
Former State Senator Tom Short Bull , (D) approached me to run for state senate and nearly choked when I said was GOP. The room turned ice cold soon after. Again it was about maintaining an automatic Democrat seat. The GOP foolishly did Democrats a favor.
There is more to the story but you get the gist.
Now someone answer my question on 4.

It’s time for somebody to blow the whistle on this farce that Johnson is actually doing anything. What a joke.
