SDCAC hires out of state consulting firm. Does that light the way as to their direction?
I was checking out some of the various political websites on the Internet today.
Just on the off chance that more information might have been available from the SDCAC in reference to my infamous ten questions, I glanced at their website. And while there’s still little to no information on the org and who it’s supporters are, I do see that the website has been revamped:

If you notice the little advertising “bug” at the bottom of the page, it notes that the site has been branded by Political Media, a Washington DC political consulting firm, who has apparently taken over design duties.

This would appear to be Political Media’s first foray into South Dakota, so it’s difficult to gauge what effect a mostly electronic publicity firm will have in the rural South Dakota market.
What can I point out what they’ve done elsewhere? An organization in South Carolina is probably the closest example to what the SDCAC hopes to accomplish in this state:
Election ManiaBackground
In 2006, Conservatives in Action, a network of South Carolina fiscal conservatives determined a few RINO’s (Republicans In Name Only) had overstayed their welcome in office. They’re goal was to unseat the RINO’s and elect Reagan Republicans.
Strategy
Political Media, Inc then created a multilateral approach to educate voters on the issues and drive them to the polls on Election Day.
Advertising Mediums Employed
- Web Animations
- Blog Infiltration
- Interactive Website Development
- Opt-in Email Marketing
- Online ad placement
- Direct Mail
- Activist on-call
- Out-of-home Advertising
- Public Relations
Actions and Results Achieved
At the end of the day, Political Media, Inc. outperformed expectations and five of the nine officeholders were defeated.
Read that all here. I find it curious that one of the tools used is “blog infiltration,” a term that is so new that you can’t find a definition for it in traditional sources. (Consider it commenting and marketing of products via on-line sources using “actors” who comment on the organization or it’s views in a favorable light.)
Should we expect that based on their consultant’s past experience that they’re going to “take out RINO’s” under their definition? I’m not sure who’s going to be on that list, considering one of their founders places me in that category. (You know, flaming liberal me with my railing on about state income taxes, big government and nanny state legislation).
And here we get back to some of my big issues with this secretive organization. If you look in previous publicity efforts for the SDCAC, at least I’ve gotten the appearance that only so much information as they wanted out there was released, much of it general, and overly vague. Unusually so for an organization that’s demanding accountability of government.
Unknown people defining Republicanism for me? Accountability from the unaccountable?
More questions to go with the ten that they couldn’t answer.

That “life saver” innertube logo is probably for use when you go swimming in the lake on top of Mt. Rushmore, as per the new “National Treasure” movie.
Hopefully they have a Cibola gold stash so they can really infiltrate all these darn RINO blogs.
Hopefully I they’ll start with Sobby.
That would be fun to watch.
Hey Sob, are you catching this action?
Could be worth a few more propellers for you, dood.
Blog infiltration?! Sounds like a threat to the red-blooded South Dakota Blogosphere from lily-livered outsiders who can’t get their point across in their home states. Or maybe they’re a secret cabal of globalizers determined to bring us all under the iron heel of one-world government.
Seal the borders! SD bloggers, to arms! All of us must unite against this insidious threat!
Dang it PP! You just got done saying the war was over and here you go again. And Sibby is just as bad!!!
If you two boys don’t quit yer fightin’ I’m gonna have to get the stick….
Now go to your rooms and think about what you’re doing to the family, fussin’ like this! There’s no sense in it.
Ma, I would disagree.
This was about the SDCAC, a SD political group, hiring an out of state political consulting firm. I said nothing about < *bleep*>
Just because I have my disagreements with < *bleep*> and his < *bleep*>< *bleep*>< *bleep*>< *bleep*>, doesn’t mean I can’t comment about a group that < *bleep*> happened to help found.
Especially when one of the firm’s specialties is to use blogs, which may include this one, to spread propaganda to their benefit.
Dang nab it – this is MY blog to spread MY propaganda.
Well, ya got a point there PP. But having you two at each other’s throats really gives me heartburn, if ya know what I mean….
Won’t the both of ya just please keep from prodding each other? Purty please??
Yer toeing the line there PP. I’ma gona send Ma a bar of soap to wash yer mouth out with. None of that sissy store bought stuff either yer getting homemade lye soap. Now settle down.
Nic, it’s on Euclid Avenue, half a block south of the intersection with Captial avenue. Across the street from the St. Charles bar. I’m sure you’re familiar with it.
“That SDCAC seems to be a really good organization that everybody should check out. I predict they will become a huge force within the GOP this year.”
I’m sure they’re nice people, but the people involved so far hardly inspire confidence…
PP –
I see squibby is saying tonight that “Pat Powers is a Liar.”
You should talk to Bill Janklow. That might be actionable.

That SDCAC seems to be a really good organization that everybody should check out. I predict they will become a huge force within the GOP this year. If you stop by their office in Pierre they’ll treat you to coffee and great conversation. Pat, you should just stop by and ask your questions.
