Vehle for Senate, Graves for house, that one guy for ?

Steve Sibson (of whom I’ve vowed not to take his bait anymore) has a newsworthy post tonight.

Steve is reporting that a Mitchell Daily Republic reporter called him tonight regarding a report that Representative Mike Vehle is running for the State Senate to replace term-limited State Senator Ed Olson. Steve also suggests that Joe Graves will likely run in the House race.

While he reports this, he speculates on his talk where he indicated he might run as an independent, based on “what the Republican Party wants to do with” him.

Actually, I think I can tell him right now that they’re going to do nothing.

Now, that’s not meant to be a slight, but it’s reality. In a primary situation, the GOP is happy to talk to anyone, and encourage those who indicate an interest in running. But as an organization itself, they aren’t going to choose up sides. If there’s a candidate, they’re happy. They’re not going to look for two.

Might individuals try to recruit on their own? Sure. But coming from the party when there’s already a candidate? Nope.

If Steve wants to run, he should run. If he doesn’t, then he shouldn’t.

But by any means, it’s a waste of time waiting for the phone call. Because it’s not likely to come.

Wouldn’t they want two candidates for the House, or do they have two?

Actually, I’d rather have Sibby in the Senate than Vehle. Much, much rather!!

Yeah Vehle! Too bad tax lover – mainstreamer Ed Olson won’t just do us the favor and bow out early.

Ed is going to propose another gas tax increase when oil just hit $100 a barrel and we’re paying $3 a gallon.

Vehle likes higher taxes as much as Olson does. Too bad there isn’t a fiscal conservative running. If Sibson decides to run, at least the voters will have a clear choice.
