Ted Klaudt gets 44 years in prison.
From Keloland.com:
A judge sentenced former state representative Ted Klaudt to 44 years in prison today, 11 years for each of the four rape convictions.
and…
The judge said while Klaudt has done good in his life, he didn’t appear to show sympathy for his victims or understand what he did was wrong. Klaudt was immediately taken into state custody and won’t be eligible for parole from the state penitentiary until he’s served at least 22 years.
Read it all here. Consecutive, as opposed to concurrently? Obviously the judge saw as the rest of the state did how egregious and horrible his crimes were.
I hope this is the start of justice for the people he’s wronged, as well as for the citizens of South Dakota. Because he has a lot to make up for.
Possibly more than 44 years’ worth.

44 Years is a long time! I thought it was nice, though, that all he wanted to say was that he was sorry.
