Sad day as Bill Harlan comes off of the mountain at Blogmore

Bill Harlan is making his last trek off of the mountain at Mt. Blogmore, as he prepares to climb down into a big hole in the ground about as deep.

The veteran Rapid City Journal reporter is trekking towards the Homestake Mine as he takes a job with state government.

At the SDWC, I’d like to wish the best of luck to Bill in his new endeavor, and to let him know that he’ll be missed in a South Dakota blogosphere which seems to keep diminishing as veteran bloggers go off line.

Go check out his final post, and wish him well.

Another whiney liberal reporter leaves the Rapid City Journal, and the paper just KEEPS getting better!

PP, you have such nice people posting here.
Aren’t you just so proud sometimes?

Well, I hope he does better for the lab than he did for the journy museum.

The Journey? What’s that all about? Harlan didn’t work at the Journey.

Sad to see Bill leaving the Mount and RCJ, but he’s got a pretty sweet gig at the Mine.

flemimg, you new in town?

TD, if you mean Rapid City, no.
I’ve lived here since 1973.
Why do you ask?

Bill was one of a small group of people which held a contract to develop the historical approach taken by the Journey museum. Details have become elusive with time’s passage, but he was deeply involved in historical research for the project.

Joe Friday, I worked with Sam Hurst and Bill Harlan to develop the video that is being shown in the theater at the Journey. It’s a good film product. Have you seen it? Do you think there is something inaccurate about it, historically?
