Dems backpedaling as hard as they can on Kirby Affair.
On Badlands Bleu (that’s a cheese joke, not a misspelling) , the Democrats are backpedaling as hard as they can on the Kirby affair. Despite previous braggadocio on knowing who was coming and going at the Kirby residence, and first-hand accounts of people out in front snapping photos, they’re actually trying to say “well, can we be sure that we really did all of this?”:
As for the doggie styles stuff, this could have been brought to public light in any number of ways, they have huge trucks with logos, someone walking on the busy streets near Steve’s house could have seen it in the driveway, an employee of the service who happens to read the blog could have emailed Lowell, a fellow customer might have known Kirby uses them. Who knows? I don’t and I certainly respect Lowell’s decision to not disclose his source, something Todd did twice in the recent past when posting anonymous tips about Kirby.
The point is, it is extremely possible that nothing out of the ordinary happened here. And yet the mainstream media, and more close to home, Democratic bloggers are lambasting this site, the party and the Johnson team for an ACCUSATION, one which was leveled by highly partisan REPUBLICANS.
I for one, without even a hint of evidence to the contrary, will always give my fellow Dems the benefit of the doubt. And Todd and Cory, I would hope you guys will do the same from now on.

People these are mafia type tactics, to get somebody not to run for fear of harassment to his family his highschool daughter. First off, Kirby was going to run, you don’t hire a camera crew to film TV spots for senatorial run, if you are not running. He was a candidate, whether he announced it publicly or not.
Secondly, I think Kirby came to the realization he would lose, and lose big, so he concocted this BS story that he was being stalked. Maybe there were people outside his home taking pictures, so what, that’s politics.
If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Maybe both sides should have people out taking pictures. The Dems could have guys who take pictures of Repubs taking pictures of Dems and their houses. Then the media could have pictures of the Dems taking pictures of the Repubs taking pictures and put it all on TV.
Now that would be a cool campaign, huh?
You guys might want to start thinking about what your candidate is going to say to demonstrate why he would make a better Senator for SD than TJ sometime soon.

Well, Badlands Blue can say that now, but Johnson’s staff were high-fiving with supporters about what they did and how they think it forced Kirby out of race. Maybe this is like lying about not doing media interviews when in fact they were doing them, only with national reporters?

Where did you come to the conclusion that Kirby thought he was going to lose? If anyone thought they were going to lose, it was Johnson. Why else would they have attacked a man before he was even a candidate? Kirby would have smoked that pile of goo Johnson and you know it. It would have taken ONE debate to make that clear.
Heat in the kitchen? You equate stalking with “heat in the kitchen”? If this wouldn’t have affected you the same way, then you’ve got more issues that my time allows. The heat in the kitchen that he couldn’t stomach was the fact that miscreants were based outside his house taking photos, scaring his teenage daughter and attacking his family personally, not his ideology or positions on issues. This again was not the only reason that he did not seek the GOP nomination of which he would have recieved.
It takes a man like Kirby to get his priorities straight, i.e. family over something as miniscule as this. The opposite? How about NY Gov. Spitzer who just resigned because of a wondering appendage. Kirby’s not losing any sleep over this, but the state will if Johnson continues. I hope the GOP comes down hard on Johnson, exposing him as as the drooling waste of elected space that he is. Am I mad that the dems tactics had some influence in Kirby’s decision, somewhat. Am I furious that Johnson doesn’t realize his own limitations (90th out of 100 and dropping fast) and is willing to bring SD down with him and the fact that his followers are blind to the obvious and defend the indefensible? Yes.
Well, it’s nice to see Detroit Lewis pull his head out of the sand long enough to defend the indefensible.

Detroit you are wrong on this. As a person who would always vote against Kirby I find this to be joke when you say it is GREAT to harrass a non- candidate. What you choose to do after he is a candidate I can at least understand. I do not agree that Kriby would have been beaten badly by Tim as we have yet to see Tim in a deabte or out giving speeches. If Kirby was going to run I think more of him now as he chose to put family 1st.
This is an example of how PP, — who is admittedly at once partisan, and at the same time, craving for media attention— will most likely forego the latter for the former.

A confirmed Kirby supporter and perhaps a family member (DUH) is modeling out the kind of campaign Kirby would have most likely run against Johnson.
But will he reveal it to the MSM — Matt Drugelike — to enhance his credibility as a new media reporter? Probably not. Because, first and foremost, he’s a partisan hack.

Whether you and the rest of the Dems like it or not, this is a campaign year; and it is the Reps right to put up a candidate to run against Johnson; and Johnson really does not have an inherent right to his Senate seat just by virtue of who he is; and the voters of SD deserve a real campaign with discussion of the issues, the capabilities of the candidates, debates, etc. We don’t deserve to be castigated every time a criticism is leveled at Johnson and he does not have the right to cry victim every time we want to know if he is truly up to the job. We are hiring him, and we have a right to know if he can do the job.
