Napoli is term limiting himself.
Bill Napoli is out. Out of the District 35 race for State Senate.
I’ve heard from two independent sources tonight that the Man, the Myth, the Legendary Bill Napoli is out of the District 35 State Senate Race. And at the same time, District 35 State Rep. Jeff Haverly is circulating petitions. Official word of Napoli’s departure is just making it’s way around to the public, and is supposedly going to hit the papers in the next couple of days.

Speaking of candidates, has anyone looked at the sec of state’s website under presidential candidates? Listed as democrats who have filed are John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, and George Washington Williams (who’s he?).No Obama! A couple weeks ago the dems were advertising their district caucuses and that you could register to be a delegate for either Obama or Clinton. Is Obama a legal candidate?? What about the other two? Did they get any delegates?
Maybe Napoli is going to Harding County and finally going to go to the district he has been representing for the last 5 years…good ridance
Sad news…Sen.Napoli has been a true conservative, sorry there are not more like him. Every now and then, the voters send a good man to Pierre. Hang in there Bill!
Is Haverly circulating petitions for the House or Senate?
Dang, we’re gonna miss Napoli. And Apa. And Lintz. And McNenny. And Greenfield.
Will there be any conservatives left in the Senate or are we stuck with the likes of Knudson and Heidiprim?
This is too bad. The South Dakota Legislature needs a Napoli to be the conscience of the place. Who will now try and check the tax and spend policies of Rounds?
Best bet we have now, to replace Sen. Bill Napoli, is Pat Powers! Powers can shoot from the hip too.
Coot.
Geeze.
Come over to my home for chicken pot pie sometime
and let’s just talk. I guarantee you the recipe is approximately the same as it is at your house.
And the same as at Napoli’s table.
In short, it’s not about the “real stuff” of late, it’s about the “unreal.”
lexrex, chime in anytime…
i would chime in, bf, but i’m too engrossed with the “surreal” — watching the basketball tournament with that sports nut doug wiken.
lexrex, the surreal pleasure is all yours.
More seriously, I see NAU, the commercial college in RCity, is dropping sports. SDSM&T should quickly emulate them, but institute a four-year intramural program so there was some variety of structured exercise available without all the intercollegiate sports baggage that burns up campus jobs to keep jocks alive and drinking.
Napoli has some ideas… Some good some stark-raving nuts. Interesting no matter what, but how many people have died needlessly in highway crashes because of wingnut loons like Napoli?
how many people have died needlessly in highway crashes because of wingnut loons like Napoli?,,,,,,none
I did not know that left wingers killed BABIES like Bush slaughtered them in Iraq. All the news from the anonymous posters is amazing.
Dozens if not hundreds of actual babies, children, and adults have died needlessly in SD because Napoli and friends oppose and opposed seat belt laws and motorcycle helmet laws.
Of course, the liquor industry has contributed to the deaths of thousands, but responsible drivers pay for those deaths and costs with increased vehicle insurance premiums. There may not be a free lunch for responsible citizens, but the liquor industry gets a free ride.
“choice” when it comes to “babies”,,,,but,,,no choice when it comes to seat belts and helmets ??? a woman has a right to make decisions that affect her, but i dont have any right to choose to wear a helmet or seat belt ? on its face it sounds contradictory doesnt it ?

He wasn’t at Veto Day – maybe he’s just had enough. One of the true characters of the state legislature is gone if this is true.
