What passes for polite discourse on Air America

WARNING- THIS CONTAINS EXTREME PROFANITY! Not a video for the kids, but it provides some insight into the mindset of some of those who are representing Democrats at the helm of talk radio.

What am I talking about? Air America announcer Randi Rhodes was suspended from Air America for the F-Bomb and calling Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton “a @!%^## whore” when speaking in San Francisco. WARNING – THIS IS not suitable for many listeners.

Today, Rhodes quit the network as a result of her suspension.

Randi Rhodes has quit the Air America radio network, a week after it suspended her for using a derogatory word for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton during an event in San Francisco.

and…

“We wish her well and thank her for past services to Air America,” said the statement issued by Air America Media chairman Charlie Kireker and its president, Mark Green. They didn’t announce who might replace her.

Read it all here.

First Ed Schultz calling John McCain – a former POW – a warmonger, and now Randi Rhodes using some choice words about Hillary Clinton.

What new wondrous things can we expect from Air America – the new home of hate radio?

Air America was created as a liberal answer to the conservative-dominated AM spectrum. Thus they use the same exact techniques as the guys on the right use. Making inflammatory comments to fire up your audience is part of the playbook.
If you do a bit of research you will find plenty of scandal and off-color comments coming out of the mouth of the conservative radio hosts that dominate the airwaves.

She quit the all but bankrupt Air America (liberal talk radio hasn’t proven too profitable) not because of the suspension but instead so she could take another gig with one of the largest radio conglomerates in the US, Clear Channel

And while throwing stones to the left, we could also get some interesting lowlights from the right of the dial as well including O’Reilly, Limbaugh, Robertson, Rivera, should I go on? All have been known to spew some stupidity of their own.

I dunno PP. Rhodes was is and has always been obnoxious. Almost as much as Hannity. He’s a self-righteous twit, she’s a potty mouth. The complement each other in their competing time slots.
Air America first suspended her and then required an apology. She quit rather than do that. Don’t try to paint Air America with the Rhodes brush on this. They acted quickly.
As for Schultz’ comment-grow up.
McCain has surrounded himself with the same failed neocons who pushed this admiinistration into an ill-advised war. And he makes an ill-advised “100 year” comment that has been blown up by far too many people. He seems to be comfortable with the idea of more conflict rather than less.
And at the end of the day, “war-monger” is no more or no less snarky than the disgusting “nudge-nudge, wink-wink” use of Obama’s middle name by El Rushbo and all those teeny wanna-bes who chase after his droppings.
By the way PP, put the Rhodes idiocy in its proper context.
Too many of your following might get the idea this was a radio broadcast. It wasn’t.
It was a personal appearance in San Francisco (OOOOOOOOOO….SAN FRANCISCO!??!?!?! CALIFORNIA!?!?!?!?!?!? Why…THEY aren’t like US!!!!!)
Should she have been fired? No question.
But corporate America has a problem where profits are concerned. And she was a money maker for Air America.
MSNBC didn’t dump Imus until sponsors started cancelling.
And the sponsors of MOST of talk radio today, left and right, evidently have no trouble with bottom-feeding.
A listen to ANY talk radio show today shows that rock deejays turned pundits have nothing but contempt for their listeners as they obfuscate, fulminate, prevaricate and well….find your own word.
Hate has lots of homes. Savage, Schultz, Limbaugh, Ingraham, Seder, Hannity, and (formerly) Rhodes. They’ve all found homes (Rhodes already has a new job) on radio and they all do what they can to trigger hatred.
Don’t pretend Air America has an exclusive on the franchise. Listen to the national talkers on Sioux Falls radio. Lots of hate there.
To quote Mr. Epp:
I’m just sayin’

This pales in comparison to some of the things Anne Coulter has said.

Remember when she wentt after the widows of 9/11?

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/06/07/entertainment/main1690954.shtml

Oh sure, now people get up in arms about hate radio when Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh have been spewing toxic hate for years.

Hate radio is just ‘free speech’ when conservatives/republicans do it, but a hanging offense when liberal/democrats do it?

I get it now.

Patti:
You are an idiot. Keep voting Liberal! You may think saying “Go**** America” is okay, but I think God Bless America. And if anyone doesn’t like America, get out!

PP. Time to throw down.

Answer for yourself.

You know you put out the same kind of crap on your blog on the state level. And if you’re going to start calling people on the carpet for it, why not start with yourself?

In fact, if you indeed intend to be an honest broker, that is exactly what you should do.

Sorry dude. But now that you’re running for office, your snarking days are over.

Or at least they should be.

Think about it.

feasant.

mmm.

I’m thinking flash fried in olive oil(skin on, brown almost until black) with lots of diced garlic, then a quick toss with some freshly made pre-cooked linguine, sweet cream, fresh sage, a touch of dill weed and a few chopped morrell mushrooms.

A dash of soy sauce and horseradish at the end.

Finished with a splash of puilly montrachet.

Then roast at 350 for half an hour.

twice cooked feasant.

mmm.

I think the warmonger thing has been beaten to death…it offended some folks, others thought it was accurate. But while Hannity may be self-righteous, according to one of the commenters, I have not heard him call people “whore” and other raunchy names. Rush cuts people off at the knees, but I’m not sure he often calls people anything much worse than “idiot”. (I’m sure somebody will find something, though…I listen to Hannity more than I tune into Rush because newsmakers call in.) All depends on your perspective.

That said…as a free-speech purist (even when I get angry about name-calling on this blog), we gotta let it go. To suppress anything leads to censorship. In my view, it should be pretty much anything goes, because who gets to decide what DOESN’T go?

Also, is Air America kinda short on listeners compared to the other talk-radio types? Because of this incident, Rhodes probably got more exposure than she’ll gever get on the radio.

TG. I say, make both desserts.

We’ll decide later which to eat and
which to just smash into each other’s
face and laugh.

My, my, my, when the talking heads on the right step on it, we hear about it for weeks, the liberal media run it in a loop, and then we see it resurrected for years.

But when it happens on the left, it’s just a dash of soy sauce with some horseradish, and on to the next meal.

If the right disagrees it’s “hate.”
If the left disagrees it’s “sage debate.”

Just as “Nappy Ho” (hate speech) is different than “f****** ho” (sage debate).

Remember when all this started? Some relief pitcher for the Atlanta Braves said that New Yawkers couldn’t speak English. He was hung out to dry for six months by the media. Now it’s a bloodsport. Fine. Rhodes has another five months and three weeks to go.

McCain is NOT a “War-monger”. That was not his message and I would think by now South Dakotans and other Americans would know that. Except the other side of the isle keep the falsehood alive.
Remember people we have US Military in numerous place around the world and let’s seeee, they are there following what??? O yea, that is right, after a conflict. It is better to keep and eye and ear there instead of thousands of miles away. Maybe that is not logical in a few peoples eyes.

trindadams,

I want to suck your nose until your head caves in. I’m just sayin’

Anton, your just jealous that your not invited to dinner tonight.
We’ll send you a doggie bag.

And Anon at 8:05. Get in line, (and don’t hold your breath.)

…sorry Anton. Both of those “your”s should have been “you’re”s.

Oh and by the way, can me and TG borrowe the red Vette tonight?

If no, ok never mind, I thought as much. No problem.

RED!!!!!! Arrrrrghhhh! It’s infantry BLUE! And NO! No dinner, no Vette! (I will accept a doggie bag though.)

Flemming at 8:19,

I want to suck you’re nose until your head caves in.

9:40 Anon. Ok, but, you’re gonna need some good pipes.

Done deal, Anton. Sorry I “Princed” out on you thinkinking your Vet was red. What a putz, huh?

BTW, have you seen this bitchslap?

Here we go again with another discussion dissolving into another litany of inane insult-swapping and “Can You Top This.” Quit bantering with BF, people. This is really getting tiresome.

PP-

As usual you are factually wrong therefor making some of your arguments not revelent.
Schultz does NOT work for Air America. He works for another network called Mother Jones Radio. So the thesis:”What new wondrous things can we expect from Air America – the new home of hate radio?” based on the idea that Schultz works for Air America and what Rhoads said was on Air America when she said what she did, is, well, totally based on things that aren’t true.

I’ll make minor correction to my last statement. It’s Jones Radio Networks not “Mother Jones Radio.” See how easy it is to make a correction PP?

7:39. If you wold mix a little wasabi paste with a little ginger powder and a teaspoon of soy sauce, add a drop of honey, and put it on everything you eat, you would have a happier life. You would also stop resenting those who are more lingustically clever, sociable, and have a better sense of humor than you do.

I’m just…. well, you know the rest.

feasant,

Thank you! I’ll keep voting the way I have, glad you’re giving me permission to do so.

I’m an American, I can say “God Hates America” or “God Bless America” if I want to. That’s the joy of being American, isn’t it?

You can say ‘God Hates Patti’ if you want, I’m giving you permission to do so.

Fleming: “You would also stop resenting those who are more lingustically clever…”
You must be kidding. Resent people who think “suck your nose” and “I’m just sayin’” are clever, and who frequently rely on YouBoob to make a point? I’m not resentful. I’m grateful. Bein’ wun o’ dem plain-spokin’ folks ain’t all bad.
(Sorry 7:39…couldn’t help responding to that elitist know-it-all.)

6:28 There you go! Thanks for lightening up. Good job.

I care not whether it’s liberal or conservative, talk radio is BS. You can hear lots of hatred on both sides. The wost part is, some people believe what they hear.

Tony-

Does your above statement include “Tony Dean’s Dakota Backroads Radio?” If you think talk radio is so bad, maybe you should boycott airing your show on stations you think spew hatred.

Where can I listen to liberal radio talk shows?

Nothing around here but religious or radical right trash talk.
