Dems aggressive with postcard mailers
South Dakota Democrats are fairly agressive this year with the postcard mailings, as one would have expected with Rick Hauffe back at the wheel of the SDDP. Here’s 2 that have come out in the last month or so in District 32, which closely matches the mailings that have gone out in several other districts, such as Heidepreim’s.
Here’s the meat of the two (Click on to enlarge)
And the other side of each. (Click on to enlarge)
Watch for the tone of them to get more pointed as we approach the election, with a few “attack” postcards likely in the offering. During his previous tenure, they were Rick’s hallmark, and he chose to “send some of the very best” when he went after the GOP.
So, be prepared.

having been on the recieveing end of Rick’s postcards in the 90’s, (it made opening your mailbox feel like you had to worry about a bomb being in there every day), I can assure you that when he gets rocking – they will have all the bite of the “wingnut” product of recent mayoral vintage. As for cable, don’t encourage him!
Lee is right on this. Do not underestimate the value of a couple of well placed words – which is as much as people read when they are throwing the cards out (which everyone does). Remember … they read those two or three words …. and sometimes they let the cards sit on their table or they land on the P.O. floor – where other people see those two or three words.
Postcards are cheap and fast – and very effective when done right. In 1996 – lots of cards were sent by the GOP for the leg.races. we took back the majority that year.
Now imagine the words “cheap and fast” next to your picture – in every mailbox in your district. A couple of well placed words that have dual meanings…highly effective way to get your message (or negative message) out to the public.
Get your $$ to your legislative candidates today! And if they don’t need it – figure out which ones do.
oh — and only one of the cards above is a good example — the only one bites (looks like a midco cable ad.)
As everyone knows I am a Conservative. I think these postcards(I have gotten 2 of them) are pretty nice looking. I think it might be a bit early, but when you have a lot of money you can start early.
I doubt the dems have much money. I think it is great that they are wasting what little they have on these cards. 1 is right. If the GOP holds off till the last couple of weeks and goes on TV, it is all over.
# 6 You are right if the GOP holds off till 2 weeks before the election, it is over. The Dems win in a land slide.

I don’t get it. These postcards look like crap. Let the dems spend thier money on this and watch the gop go up on cable tv. We can just sit back and start watching our majorities grow.
