The Senator of OZ?

So far we’ve seen Steve Jarding trashing Joel Dykstra, Steve Jarding telling us about the Senator not debating, and Steve Jarding handling all the spokesman duties that the Senator himself might normally take.
Are we supposed to call him Senator Steve Jarding, or Steve Jarding-Johnson?

This is an important point. If Senator Johnson cannot do his job, who is doing the job? And don’t South Dakotans deserve to know that?
If Johnson cannot debate, he also cannot sit in a room with his fellow senators and debate an issue privately. So who is he sending? Don’t we deserve to know that too?
His staff has been doing all these things ever since he got sick, but we are supposed to be dumb enough not to realize that.
I absolutely love this cartoon!!!!
PP has had a great many contributions to popular blogism, if not having single-handedly run this state for a number of years as a puppet master, but this illustration is among his best achievements yet.
Johnson is recovering and not quite up to speed. Dykstra is a bright guy, not very personable. Who wins from a debate? It’s really hard to say. For sure Dykstra has nothing to lose. I think Joel is going down.
Wow. Instead of buying a pinball machine, it seems PP has invested in Paint to add to his Johnson fetish.
So-
Johnson has Jarding running his campaign…
and
Dykstra has …
Oh that’s right, not enough money to hire someone worth a shit.
Well Jarding isn’t worth a shit either and I am sure Johnson is paying him a lot of money. So I guess it’s even.
why can’t Dykstra get his message out in TV ads. I’ve yet to see even one tv or hear a radio ad. Nothing anywhere except for the flyers for the web site, well that won’t woo many voters in SDak. Quit whinning about the debates and start reaching out to voters. The voters in SDak still read newspapers.
PP’s just jealous because Johnson can afford to hire a campaign manager who actually knows something about politics. No one with half a brain would work for the sinking ship that is Dykstra.
The issue is not one of politics or perception – it is of governance. Sen Steve Jarding-Johnson is debating in public, running for office, and if succesful in November – will be our senator. How is it right for our state to have one of it’s two seats held by Sen Steve Jarding-Johnson? If the person who Sen Jarding-Johnson speaks for, ever comes on “What’s Up” here in our community – as EVERY candidate for ANY office in this state has done – I will call and ask him why Sen Steve Jarding-Johnson is the only one speaking out from that office. A young man from our community was just in DC and came back astonished at the the person Sen Steve Jarding-Johnson speaks for’s inability to speak or pariticpate in a discussion. I think the gig is up — this is the Sen Steve Jarding-Johnson show from here out – we need to know where he stands on the issues, if he is to serve.
Once again the Dems will be instructed to just “follow the yellow brick road….follow the yellow brick road.”
Anonymous 9:35, 9:49, and 9:53 (probably the same person) is fixated on money, it seems.
Sorry, but we don’t choose who wins by the size of their bank account. In fact, I think most South Dakotans are put off by candidates with millions of dollars in their warchest. Waste of money that could have been put to better use, that’s for sure.
As far as running ads…. Thank you, Joel for not running ads yet! I don’t care if it’s lack of money, or just not your plan, but I, for one, don’t want to see the continual drivel on my tv screen every night already. It’s only August. Let’s wait til at least October to start making us sick with political tv ads.
Of course, when you’ve got millions and millions in your campaign account, you can start running tv ads real early. Worked wonders for Tom Daschle, didn’t it?
I think you call him a campaign manager.
Perhaps Dykstra and Lien should invest in one, maybe they could pool their money and share.
8:13 – Totally agree with you about the TV ads. I heard Dykstra wasn’t going to start running TV ads until September. I’m with you and wish they’d both wait until October. Of course, that is apparently how Johnson is going to campaign, since he won’t make any appearances in person.
I remember Daschle starting his ads over a year ahead of time, and you remember how well that worked! After awhile we tune them out just like we tune out all commercials.

There will be flying Jarding monkeys, too.
