In Mitchell, a trial has started for a member of the Mitchell School board. And he’s offering a unique defense as to why he thought he could spend his boss’ money on personal things. He had permission:

Eric Christensen will claim during his criminal trial that he had permission to spend his former employer’s money on personal items, his attorney revealed Monday during the first day of proceedings at the Davison County Courthouse in Mitchell.

Christensen, a Mitchell school board member, is on trial for two counts of grand theft. He is accused of stealing about $2,300 from his former employer, Dakota Ag Innovations. The trial is expected to last through Friday.
