Palin bringing new volunteers to the SDGOP

Keloland has a story on their website by anchor Don Jorgenson noting how Sarah Palin’s candidacy for the office of Vice president is swelling the ranks of Republican women in the state by energizing people to come out and volunteer for the first time:

“We got dozens of women calling wondering where they can get McCain Palin signs or help and volunteer, coming in off the street, we’ve called in more volunteers just to man the phones,” said Jason Glodt, the political director of the South Dakota Republican Party.

The South Dakota Republican Party says Palin’s conservative credentials and the fact she’s a woman are inspiring lots of armchair quarterbacks to get off the sidelines.

“We have people who have not been involved in Republican politics now who are calling and asking how they can get involved,” said Glodt.

Glodt says at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul this week, Palin tackled some of the biggest issues facing America today and scored big points.

“The women of South Dakota have been waiting for a strong Republican woman to emerge in national politics and that day has come,” said Glodt.

Any thoughts on the composition of this group of women? Is the Palin candidacy pulling in those women who were voting for HIllary on the basis that she was the first woman candidate? Or is Palin mainly energizing an already existing base of Republican women?

In my opinion:

Palin is energizing the existing base of Republican women along with some of the conservative Dem base women. Further, she is energizing the younger conservative base both male and female.

Palin with her “spring cleaning” attitude has energized America across the board.

Whoever said this must have been thing about Palin: “A New Day is Dawning”.

Correction: “thinking” about Palin.

Hey Jason - who do I see to get some of those Palin signs when I come to Pierre? I’m more excited about the chance to vote for Sarah than I’ve ever been about any other national candidate! She might not know everything she needs to know about the VP job yet, but she sure as heck is going to educate herself fast and she’s a quick study.

I’ll bet Barak and his buddies are shaking in their handmade imported loafers!

Is there somewhere I can go to expressly not volunteer for Wonder Woman?

I heard one woman even volunteered her “hotness”

I think Sarah Palin will enegergize not only the GOP base, but has a very good chance at bringing in the “Reagan Democrats” as well as a large number of Hillary Clinton Democrats that provided her with victory in what will be swing states in the general election. The groundswell of support will be in demographics that the talking heads in the MSM tend to overlook and/or downplay.

It’s become obvious that Obama’s no messiah; in fact, he barely matches up with the former head of the PTA in Wasilla, Alaska. He’d be wise not to underestimate her again.

BTW, I’ll be offline for the next couple of weeks. I’ll be hearing the views of some of the folks in Illinois. From what I’ve heard so far, outside of the Chicago Machine, Obama isn’t playing too well on his home turf.

If I agreed with Hillary, then why in the world would I vote for Palin? WHY?!? They’re completely opposite! People who are swinging that way have no concept of how either woman stands on the issues. The differences between Clinton and Obama are few and far between. Giving your vote to Palin means you never stood behind Hillary in the first place.

Well, here’s a start for you to see why some of Hillary’s supporters will not support Obama. They may not even support McCain/Palin, but they definitely will not support Obama.

I think you have to realize there are women who vote for women “just because” she is a woman. It is lame and very sad, but that is the way it is. There are woman who vote for men “just because” they think they are good looking…lame once again.

I also heard the same comment, many times, made about Herseth.
Just because someone appeals in looks is not a rason to vote for them. It is shallow and shows what they don’t know. Yes, a person has to have a electability within their appereance but, it alone should not be the basis on voting for someone.

I would never vote for H. Clinton not even when I was a Dem!

Sorry, I was to type the word “reason” not rason. I even thought i doubled checked…humm

what thretaens you so about this women, she really reminds me of Reagan, straight talking and always underestimeted by her opponents. The Dems just dont know how to respond to a intelligent, dynamic self made women. I can hardly wait to vote and get involved.

Yup. Didn’t get everything done I wanted to do the first term so I’m giving it another shot. My expectations are a lot lower this time though…

6:09, that’s ’cause they know they are really going to need it now that Hurricane Sarah has arrived on the scene!!!

Some of you Palin supporters have delusions of grandeur. I watched her on TV Friday give an introduction speech for McCain at a campaign stop. She literally read the whole speach from notes. She was not impressive.
