CITY COUNCILORS ENDORSE JOEL DYKSTRA

Sioux Falls, SD – Four Sioux Falls City Council members today endorsed Joel Dykstra for U.S. Senator. Councilors Pat Costello, Greg Jamison, De Knudson and Kermit Staggers all gave Dykstra the nod, saying his business and legislative experience, leadership and South Dakota values make him the best candidate to represent our State in Washington, D.C.

“Joel Dykstra brings innovative ideas to the table on important issues facing our state and nation,” said Councilor Greg Jamison. “As City Council members, we are particularly impressed with his grasp of economic development issues and his pro-business positions of lowering taxes and stimulating investment. Joel understands that while our economy is going through critical and troubled times, our Government must allow families and businesses to keep more of their hard-earned dollars. That will stimulate economic growth in Sioux Falls, in South Dakota and throughout America.”

In addition to his extensive experience in economic development, the Councilors also applaud Joel’s track record and innovation in the energy and agricultural sectors.

“Joel understands that some of the most critical issues facing our nation are also great opportunities for South Dakota to excel in energy and agricultural production,” Jamison said. “He will be a zealous advocate for our state in Washington, D.C. “

funny- just the other day at the charter revision meeting Jamison and Knudson said city council seats are non-partisan.

Yeah right.

I think the mayor must have alzheimers! How else can you explain paying a press person $100k, when you could hire one for half of that? Endorse Johnson? There must be a picture of the mayor in some situation.

Every person knows Johnson is not capable of doing the job! It is a shame the Dems are exploiting Johnson.

Detroit-
Seriously, Daschle made all city council positions political when he statrted re-cruiting about 8-10 years ago for these spots with that camp in the Hills. I know of at least 3 past councilmen and people that ran because they were inspired/given financial assistance by the democrat party and Daschles PACS. The Republican party at the time did virtually 0. So cut the holyier the thow crap and parsing words. You really top yourself at times in the “lay in wait” approach to call yourself an indpendent thinker and 99.9% of the time take the liberal talking points and run with them.

It’s not news when Republicans endorse a Republican candidate. It is news when Republican elected officials endorse a Democrat - like Mayor Munson did.

Why don’t you tell us about any Democratic elected officials who have endorsed Dykstra. That would be worth talking about.

9:23-

Settle down now. I was just pointing out the irony of Jamison’s and Knudson’s statements at Tuesday’s meeting. I actually think that councilors should tell voters the party they belong to, I think it is important.

And to tell you the truth, if I was Joel, I wouldn’t want Knudson’s endorsement.

Maybe they wanted to express their constitutional rights in the event IM10 passes? Just because they run w/o affiliation, it doesn’t mean they don’t have political views outside of the issues of Sioux Falls. The nature of a City Councilor and their issues are not partisan from a national party sense. There are GOP’ers Dems who I’ve thought are great on the Council and vice versa.

And, maybe they wanted to get on record in the event Dykstra wins. They wouldn’t want Dykstra to think Mayor Do-nothing speaks for all of us.

I think 90% of the Dems wonder if Johnson is capable of doing the job. If he wins SD loses, we will only have two votes in DC.

Let me repeat myself. I think there is NOTHING wrong with their endorsement. FREE country, they can do what they want. I just find it VERY ironic that just two days ago they talked about the NON-PARTISAN nature of the city council, then do something partisan by endorsing a fellow Republican that is running for the US Senate.

Hypocritical.

JOhnson hasn’t missed a single vote this year feasant. So who are you saying isn’t casting votes in DC?

Why does the Sioux Falls City Council hate South Dakota?
