Herseth Sandlin Votes with Speaker Pelosi 97% of the Time
- “Blue Dog” Claims Proven False -
Pierre – On Friday, April 2nd, Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin voted for President Barack Obama’s $3.7 trillion dollar budget. Herseth Sandlin abandoned the real “blue dogs” in the Democrat House, twenty of whom voted against the jaw-dropping deficits and spending levels in the Obama budget.
Earlier, Herseth Sandlin voted for the $1.2 trillion dollar Obama administration “stimulus bill.” This bill was completely unfunded and directly conflicts with purported “blue dog” pay-as-you-go principles. Many “blue dogs” opposed the extreme levels of spending in the stimulus plan, but Herseth Sandlin, again voted lock-step with Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Herseth Sandlin is also joining Speaker Pelosi in supporting the abolition of a worker’s guarantee to a secret ballot after she has received $1 million in labor union donations.
According to recent news accounts, Herseth Sandlin votes with Speaker Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time. That is a higher percentage than even die-hard liberals like Zoe Lofgren, Loretta Sanchez, and Pete Stark of California.
“Herseth Sandlin is showing her true colors. Her voting record demonstrates that she is a solid supporter of the Pelosi agenda in Washington and no amount of spin about being a ‘blue dog’ can change that,” said South Dakota GOP Executive Director Lucas Lentsch.
According to the Washington Post in this Congress, Herseth Sandlin has voted with her party and Nancy Pelosi 96.6% of the time.

That’s great news! I was afraid she was becoming a moderate conservative, or worse just a moderate.

And Thune voted with his party 94.8% of the time including voting against the stimulus which allowed our oh so fiscally responsible Republican governor and legislature to balance their budget.
More importantly, Thune voted the way the majority of South Dakotans would have voted. That’s what matters to me. He is in lock-step with South Dakota’s Average Joe almost all the time. It’s refreshing to know that he hasn’t lost sight of his roots.

By denying them worker rights and keeping our healthcare costs thru the roof while he served as a lobbyist? Who knew the average Joe was for that stuff?
DL: Oftentimes workers don’t know what’s good for them, i.e. gulping into that “workers unite” crap and realize that they just agreed to be held hostage by a union who gobbles up all their money, stifles their self-interest in promotions, eliminates their individuality through harrassment and intimidation, ruins work ethics and makes them slaves to the “order”. That also sounds like the voters in the general Presidential election.
Thune has nothing to do with health costs unless you blame him from opposing socialized medicine, then I guess he’s to blame. Thune votes how the vast majority of his constiuents think, like it or not. SHS went off the deep end and in a blazing sort of way. I can’t see her recovering from this, that is, unless the idiots who voted for her again vote their typical “I’m downtrodden, what’s in it for me, screw the ‘rich’” attitude.
Boy Duh, you do go out on limbs. “…workers don’t know what’s good for them”. That’s the way to make friends and influence people–just not very many of them.
I am so darn mad at her! Why can’t she just vote like us Republicans want her to? Why does she have to vote like she was a Democrat? She should be doing everything she can to keep South Dakota GOP Executive Director Lucas Lentsch happy! How dare she go against his wishes! I mean,she acts like she is a Democrat or something like that.
I just don’t know why can’t be more of a Republican!

Let’s see her spin this when she runs for whatever next time. With voting records like this, all the cuteness and perkiness in the world, not to mention the Herseth name, isn’t going to save her.
I called Stephanie’s office both in SF and DC and asked that she attend a tea party in this state and try to connect wtih the voters, but was essentially blown off each time. So much for caring about the taxpayers in SD!
