Another one of the new guard considering stepping up? Drop her a note and tell her to think about it.

Since the field is wide open for the office of State Auditor in 2010 – I put a bug in the ear of former Governor’s office staffer Rachel Kippley of Aberdeen that she should give it some serious thought.

And I think I might have her attention, or at least her momentary intrigue. She replied – “That’s a fun rumor to start–why not?”

Given her prior knowledge of South Dakota’s state budget, it’s not a stretch – in fact, it’s not a stretch at all. I personally think this political activist and mom would be pretty good at it.

And it seems to highlight a gripe I have with the GOP at times – there are too few people out there seeking out the candidates for tomorrow, and giving good solid people such as Rachel a push. To let them know that very easily that they could be the next Chris Nelson, or Rich Sattgast, Dusty Johnson, Mike Rounds or even John Thune. And especially so when it comes to women candidates.

I’ve groused about it before – there are some very well qualified female candidates and potential candidates out there – but when it comes time to pick our slate of candidates for statewide offices, it seems as if it’s a bunch of white male candidates between 40 and 60. What message does that send to my daughters when I tell them they can be anything and if they have the interest, as a Republican, they can run for office and win?

We have the John Thune’s of the world. And along with out other future candidates, we need more of the Kristi Noem’s, Deb Peters’, and in this case, we need more of the party’s Rachel Kippley’s to be encouraged to step up to the plate and to help carry the party’s banner.

So, drop Rachel a note. And tell her to think about it.  Because if she decides to take the plunge, she should know that the GOP will be there to back her.

Another Debbie Peters???

Rachel is a bright capable person, so yes she’s like Deb Peters in that regard. I am curious about the “Debbie” reference, as I haven’t seen that little bubba blurb on any of her official name tags or references, but this is a blog so I guess Timmie Johnson and Tommie Daschle …… you get the picture.

Rachel is an awesome person! She is more than capable of doing the job.

I think Peters is an accountant. She should be the auditor.

I wish 3:44’s post wouldn’t have been anonymous so we’d know if it was Peters announcing her candidacy.

Wow the auditors race is starting to get very interesting! I’ve heard names like Kippley, Drake Olson, Todd Schlekeway and Vern Larson discussed now. Lots of names for no one filing! Josh Haeder’s name should be considered for Auditor also.

I think Kristi Noem should be Lt Gov.
