The Republican National Committee is taking some flak for an earlier version of this video, for picturing Nancy Pelosi along side one of the Bond Villains as the flap over her accusations of deception by the CIA continue to fester and erode at her leadership:

I love when Cheney’s proof that Pelosi is wrong is to quote George Tenant. All those guys’ noses have grown so long, they’re having to walk in and out of rooms backwards. Pant on fire, with one flick of Nancy’s Bic.
This is just another example of the partisan BS that has infected our politics. Plus, I think Republicans are using this to distract us from the discussion we were having about their immoral, unChristian support for torture.
John, there’s no record (even from Pelosi herself), that she raised an objection when she was briefed about the legalities of waterboarding. How’s that for an immoral and un-Catholic (which Pelosi claims to be) perspective?
She uses the bogus excuse that Jane Harman’s objection was enough. Bull-t. Pelosi was the head Democrat in the House at the time. She could have a made a phone call to Bush. He might have told her where to put it, but guess what. She would be smelling like a rose for bringing it up, instead of smelling like the liar she is.

If Rep. Pelosi was told that the Bush administration was going to use torture and then she didn’t raise an alarm about that unethical behavior, then sure she should be in trouble for that. But right now it’s in a he said/she said area, so we’ll have to wait to find out the truth.
I also wonder if the CIA explained to her that it specifically was waterboarding, or if they used the cute “enhanced interrogation techniques” name. Back then, we didn’t know what those techniques really were.
I’m curious what will happen next.
The Democrats still want to blame Republicans for torture. Republicans want to blame Pelosi for blaming the CIA. The Obama admin seems to want everyone to shut up about this and get back to fixing the economy and the million other problems we’re facing.
John from anon 2:34, I actually agree that we need to move on to other things (I hope we can also agree that there were plenty of Dems as well as Republicans who had some idea what was going on). I’m not saying that some day down the road we should’t be retrospective about what was done. But Obama has already has already changed and redirected the former policies on the torture/interrogation issues, so it isn’t going to continue anyway. It remains to be seen whether his actions will have the effect of terrorists being nicer to us in return.
Hate to say it, though, but if the Obama Administration sees some political benefit to keeping this can of worms open, they will. Nothing they do lacks a political component.

Why did we wait so long to introduce her to the rest of the country?
I don’t like Nancy Pelosi.

She’s a wimp. When she was first approached about being briefed about torture she should have said “to quote Dick Cheney – ’so what?’”
Because – what kind of a defense to torture is: “THEY KNEW ABOUT IT TOO! NANCY FOUND OUT WE WERE BEING NAUGHTY AND SHE DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING! TEACHERRRRR! NANCY KNEW ABOUT IT TOOOOO!”
That doesn’t make her culpable.
SHE didn’t order the torture.
She didn’t find out about it until after it was already taking place…
That’s like… well… if you killed the neighbor’s dog and later on your sister Nancy finds out about it – but doesn’t tell anybody…
Then when YOU get in trouble for it – instead of taking your lumps – you whine and say that Nancy knew about too!
…And Nancy gets a whuppin!

I’m so tired of all this torture stuff. We waterboarded a grand total of three (THREE) terrorists, and we are the bad guys? Maybe you bleeding hearts should consider what the real terrorists, bad guys, did to 3,000 of our own people in the towers on 9/11, to the people including little kids on the airplanes that flew into those towers, to the surviving family members who have to relive what their loved ones went thru in the last minutes of their lives and try to continue on with their own lives.
Maybe you should remember that we foiled multiple plots to commit acts of terror after 9/11 in our own country, that Bush et al kept us safe for eight years (which after all is the President’s main job). But no, that’s not politically expedient. Good grief, wake up! There are people who don’t like us. Period. And they will keep trying to hurt us and destroy our country. Period. And we had better be strong enough to prevent this. Period.
Maybe someone had better tell Obama, Pelosi, and the rest of those bent on destroying our intelligence agencies and military that they had better get an understanding of the above facts. Because they DO NOT GET IT!

9/11 happened during the Bush Administration and no matter how many people they tortured they can’t change that fact.
Randall, for the 100th time in answer to your tiresome talking point….9-11 was PLANNED during the Clinton years when agencies were not allowed to talk to each other. The evildoers who planned 9-11 are patient, ruthless and well-funded. That is a catastrophic combination, as we found out.
Gitmo exists because we were attacked. Closing it won’t change a thing as far as the mindset of the fanatical jihadists.
No matter how anybody spins this, and no matter how Pelosi refuses to talk about it, there were plenty of opportunities for her to protest. She didn’t.

Randall, of course you are right. I didn’t deny that this happened on Bush’s watch. The difference is that nothing happened since because the rules changed and we couldd be more proactive and communicative among various government agencies. And guess what. If a couple of those jihadist bastards got slapped around a little bit and helped to prevent something else from happening, then I say it was worth it.
Nobody should be dragged off in chains — not Cheney, not Pelosi. I might even be willing to give her a pass since the times were different right after 9-11. She just needs to admit it.
Gotta love it. The GOP gets heat for this, while Bush was portrayed next to Hitler, etc.
