Curious how “going away” is beating out Governor by a percentage point.  Ouch.

Go vote here.

Does this mean Republicans hope she goes away and Democrats hope she runs for Gov? That is what I am thinking.

It says to me that 66.9% want her to represent them somehow…even run for president apparently. And the disgruntled Repubs are the only ones who want her to go away. Because the NON-disgruntled Repubs just keep on voting for her!

Maybe I’m reading this wrong, but it looks to me like a third of the voters are just tired of her being in office, and those that do want her in office aren’t sure what she should run for.

First, William, these kinds of polls are statistically worthless, of course.

But to play along… You’d have to check the %age of people who have always voted against her which is roughly 30% I’m guessing. (I’m not going to look it up.) And then add in about 3 to 5% for those who are smart enough to know how to cheat these lame online “surveys” and are dishonest enough to do it.

Come to think of it, that second %age could be much higher, and represent just one or 2 people just blowing their cookies. (You know I’m right, PP. Don’t you.)

BF – Of course they are, but they’re fun to play with – lol

This poll isn’t really surprising at all. If you think about it, in most of her elections, Stephanie has had about 1/3 of SD vote against her. It stands to reason that those who voted for her would want her to run for Senate, House, or Governor; while those who voted against her wouldn’t want her to run again.

That being said, the poll is an internet poll, which are notoriously unreliable.

this poll has absolutely nothing to do with what voters think. must be a slow news day, eh PP?

Nothing in that poll gives any indication of how the people of Aberdeen view her. If the poll were statistically meaningful (which internet polls aren’t), these results are not very positive. Assuming the bulk of the respondents were from Brown County, Stephanie’s support was 76% in the last election. The 33% number would indicate slippage in her most loyal base as it is her home area.

While I’d can’t imagine the circumstances where I might vote for Herseth, I definitely wouldn’t have answered “go away.” I think democracy is served by capable candidates who can espouse a particular philosophy and set of ideas. I’m saddened when either party is unable to put up for consideration a capable candidate.

I definitely wouldn’t have answered “run for Governor” either. I know what skills it takes to run state government and Stephanie has never displayed anything that she has the skills necesary to run something as big as State Government. I think the Democrats can put up someone with a stronger set of such skills and hope they do.

I probably would have said “run for Senate.” If after six years in the House, she isn’t prepared to be considered for a promotion, it is probably time that we find a House member with greater potential. And, I’m pretty confident that Thune would beat her handily.

Troy, my guess is that Stephanie may be getting some pressure to run against Thune. If she does, she will win. The only question is, is it time?

Why would she run against Thune when Johnson’s seat will be hers for the taking?

Ricki, I doubt she’d even consider running against Tim Johnson.

She won’t have to. He won’t run again.

I just went to look at the Abdn poll and your poll numbers aren’t even close to what theirs show……neither one is realistic.

My predictions for 2010

Senator: John Thune wins re-election with 71% of the vote

Representative: Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin wins with 63% of the vote if republicans have a good candidate

Governor: Dennis Daugaard & Kristi Noem win with 54% of the vote

I think the Republicans can defeat stephy if she continues to vote like a socialist and Repubs field a candidate that has name id who isn’t afraid of her

if we have a good candidate we can get her below 60%!

Offhand, I’d say that some finger happy computer nut got into the poll. Herseth for President????! But I guess she would have as much experience as we are so lucky to have now! And isn’t Tim J keeping the seat warm for his son, not Stephanie?

“Offhand, I’d say that some finger happy computer nut got into the poll. Herseth for President????!”

Like I said earlier, Internet polls are notoriously unreliable. As in: completely unscientific, not worth reading. Never trust a poll in which one can vote more than once.

This shows how bad Dems want her to run for Governor!

Maybe having that kid has made her want to spend more time around mom and dad?

Daugaard is the only one currently running who can beat her.

Steph is for card check even McGovern is against that. Blue dog my a##

anon I like your predictions, I think Kristi Noem would make an awesome Lt Gov.

Sandlin will be beat, her voting with Pelosi will bring out her true colors and it is not blue. It is red ink all over the place.
