They come in threes. First Farrah, Then Michael. Now, Billy.

From Yahoo News:

Billy Mays, the burly, bearded television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.

Tampa police said Mays was found unresponsive by his wife Sunday morning. A fire rescue crew pronounced him dead at 7:45 a.m.

There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play, said Lt. Brian Dugan of the Tampa Police Department, who wouldn’t answer any more questions about how Mays’ body was found because of the ongoing investigation. The coroner’s office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon.

Don’t forget Ed McMahon. What’s going on here anyway?
Put down that Big Mac, PP. Seriously.

Bill, what are you talking about?

Actually the 3 was Ed, Farrah, and Michael…got it wrong again PP…LOL But, then again what else is new? LOL

I was commenting that there were actually 4 celebrities who passed away lately, Ed McMahon being the other one.

Ed on the 23rd Farrah and Michael on the same day (June 25) and Billy today the 28th. Four in six days.

Then I was lumping you in with them as a fellow celebrity and hoping for your continued good health by warning you about the dangers of eating too many cheeseburgers …advice I need to heed as well.

… of course, in Billy’s case it looks like it may have come from a hard whack on the noggin’. Something that might well happen to this Billy too some day if I’m not careful. (wink)

I have been listening to my wife tell me how these come in threes for the past few days. Now there is a fourth. She thinks there are a couple more. Of those, I regret the loss of Ed McMahon the most. When I told my daughter he was Johnny Carson’s sidekick, she asked “who?”. Ouch. Anyway, Bill, quit smarting off to your wife or we may be up to five. (wink)

What about Eddie Mac or David “hangings make me hot” Carradine?

I hear ya, duggerSD. Funny.

Who is this Billy that’s an apparent celebrity? Is he some new teen idol? I’m guessing he was, as I haven’t heard of him. But I remember when lil’ Grudz Jr. had a Farrah poster in his room. Even I could enjoy that.

From AP News: Dr. Conrad Murray never prescribed or gave Jackson the drugs Demerol or OxyContin.

I heard that since Jackson’s autospy showed demerol and OxyContin, investigators are checking to see if Jackson had visited Rush Limbaugh lately!

For those of you that don’t remember: Mr. Limbaugh’s housekeeper, Wilma Cline, approached Florida media and Florida authorities to reveal that she had acted as Rush Limbaugh’s drug buyer for years, purchasing “more than 30,000 hydrocodone, Lorcet and OcyContin pills,” and she reports he “took as many as 30 OxyContin pills a day. Rush He admitted to listeners on his radio show on October 10 that he was addicted to prescription painkillers.

So, is it possible that Michael Jackson had visited Rush?

Since Rush Limbaugh has been able to overcome his addiction to OxyContin for at least 5 years, it’s unlikely there’s a connection.

I miss Farrah the most! MJ was one talented guy – to bad he was so weird and that guy who jsut passed away could really sell a product.

“HEY ST. PETER! THOSE WINGS LOOK AWFUL DINGY! GET THE SHINE BACK ON THEM WITH ANGEL BRITE POLISH!!!

I get the feeling heaven got just a smidge louder today.

The government is screwing us to the wall with global-warming laws, Obama is screwing us to the wall in so many ways I don’t even have time to list them here, but the media is focused on nutjob child molester Jackson. Great.

I am sure going to miss those LOUD ASS BILLY MAY’S COMMERCIALS that used to come on during normal programming.

Having to turn down the volume just for a tv ad then having to turn it back up for the next one was great.

HOW was billy using those products? I’m seeing a FDA, FCC, ATF, ICE, CYA inspections in the future!

Michael Jackson died? Really? Why haven’t we heard anything about this in the news?

5:58 MJ was acquitted on all counts. Not guilty. What good does it do you to continue to libel him? How does that add to the quality of your life? Does he have to be bad in order for you to feel good about yourself? Sad.

But BF, MJ himself said he was:
Bad Bad-really, really bad, just to tell you again, who’s bad?

(sorry, I just couldn’t help myself…)

Nobody is going to convice me that Jackson wasn’t a child molester. He was downright weird.

11:28. Like I said, your arbitrary mindset and the libelous expression thereof improves the quality of your life because…?

Yeah, William, like a lot of artists, Michael had big internal conflicts.

Eric Clapton puts it this way, “I’m an egomaniac with an inferiority complex.”

That mental condition by the way is one from whence a lot of (if not all) great art ensues.

11:28 Is probably one of those people who maintains that Socrates
s and Michaelangelo’s thought and art wasn’t any good because after all, those guys were gay.

One more time… art and artists are far more important and influential than any politician, hands down. That’s just the way it is, 11:28. Deal with it.

I don’t disagree with you point regarding artists, in general the greater the talent, the more “un-normal” the artist. As far as cultural impact, artists will generally have a greater impact that politicians.

However, Michael Jackson couldn’t tax me or send me to war.

I was visiting my sister and her family recently, and every time a Billy Mays commercial would come on my nephew would drop whatever he was doing and just stare at the TV and smile. I’m guessing it was a combination of the volume and Billy’s voice (very distinctive) that made Weston look (he’ll be 2 next month). I will miss laughing over that next time I’m there…

Michael WAS a great artist. Like politicians, he felt the power and became corrupted. If you can’t grasp that concept, you will fall for anything any ‘one trick pony’ can throw at you, because you don’t judge substance only the actions of the past.
That’s not very progressive of you!

William, well, it could be argued that artists have stopped some wars. That’s more their style, you know?

Guy, the art outlives the man. There is no “was” to art, just “is.” Take Goya for example. Michael’s art is separate from Michael’s persona, although some of what he did with his body is part of his statement, I think.

By the way Guy, I’m an art history guy. So be careful with that “one trick pony business. ” I’ll put you on it backwards and send your ass down the road. (wink)

Also William, the arts and taxation have a very, very long global history. Culture has always been a priority for both the ruling class and the rank and file. It’s one of the things most people are proud to have their tax dollars go for.

Architecture, National Art Gallery, Arts Councils, etc, etc, etc.

The Great Pyramids, the Acropolis, the Louvre, The National Art Gallery, The Dahl Fine Arts Center, etc, etc, etc.

It’s also a good tax write off.

Doesn’t the art change with the artist?
Bill, I thought of you as more of a Salvador Dali or Frida Kahlo persona.
I’m not really an art historian, I’ve just seen the movie. I like the Taj Mahal, Egyptian Sarcophagus, VanGogh, stuff. And the Gothic French architecture, was cool too.

The arts and taxation should have stopped at some point before the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts sponsored the “Piss Christ”… As for “artists stopping wars”, artists do tend to have big egos – lol

Bill, It sounds like a tax write off is a good thing?

Hmmm, why would that be? Maybe, in those cases, you get to keep more of the money that you’ve earned.

And wouldn’t donation funded organizations be better than tax funded organizations?

Sure, Guy if you have some serious art to contribute, like oh say the Andrew Mellon Art Collection, for example.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Gallery_of_Art

Otherwise, maybe you just want to give some money to the Arts Council and take the write off. Or just send it in so the military can buy some more thousand dollar toilets or whatever.

Bill, OJ was acquitted as well. But that does not mean I do not believe he did it. Like Anon 11:58, I believe MJ to have done what he was accused of. I agree Anon’s first statement could be construed as libelous, but the second one not, right? As for his point, I believe he was indicating there are many more important things to have inundating us than All MJ, All of the Time. I don’t have FOX, but I heard they went solid MJ when he died. And then we take President Obama to task for going out for ice cream while Iran is cooking.

Ok, I hear you guys.
Enough with MJ.
Got it.
No more from me then.
Thanks for the talk though.
It was a lot of fun.
Carry on gentlemen.

Turn off the lights, the party’s over

I do have some of my work on the wall of a Sioux Falls restaurant, I am told.

Love to see it, Guy. Is it online anywhere?

I don’t know.

Thats what SHE said!
