So those people don’t want us to have a better health care system? Shame on them.

And does anyone else think it’s funny that they have Allen Unruh giving “medical advice”? Personally, I wouldn’t trust him with my medical care.

John, I think it’s funny you think were supposed to get a better health care system from the government! The Medicare, VA, American Indian Health jokes aren’t that funny and they sure aren’t better. I’m guessing you’re imagining…’I'm going to have health care just like Obama, wheeee!’

Why aren’t these events during the weekend, at night, ie. not in the middle of the day!? You might get a better turn out. Just a thought!

You’re absolutely right Guy, the turnout would be much higher if the event wasn’t during regular working hours.

As a general rule, it’s best not to criticize unless you have an alternative idea. So I ask anyone: what’s the Republicans’ proposal for health care reform? Tax cuts? Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems to me that the Republican solution to health care reform is to just not do health care reform.

The main problem with our health system is the outrageous costs. The health insurance market is highly monopolized in most areas. The DOJ lists a market has “highly concentrated” when one company holds 42% or more of a market share. In many states, health insurance companies hold 80% or more of the market! In fact, the AMA lists 94% of health insurance markets in the U.S. as being highly concentrated.

What is needed is competition, something I thought conservatives were for. When the insurance market is monopolized, the giants are able to buy out any competition, and raise prices as they see fit. That’s one reason why I think a public option, which insurance companies can’t buy out, will reduce overall prices.

If Republicans have a better way to reduce prices, let’s here it. A public option is just one way. But until then, quit protesting, and start thinking of one.

John and all you free loaders move to Canada. I bet you will be back because Gov run healthcare sucks. You want some clown in DC deciding your healthcare? When you get back from Canada I bet PP would let you report on your findings.

Thanks to all who had a hand in putting this on. We need to save our healthcare!

John maybe you could report from Canada while you are up there, you will have plenty of time while you are waiting in line to see a Dr.

I have an excellent plan, involving patient follow-up to insure proper care of ailment, mediation between doctors and patients to get rid of most malpractice awards and a reduction in medical/insurance costs due to torte reform and unecessary medical visits.

But, Braden, I’m sure you won’t let that stop you from pushing failed and unthoughtful policies.

“You want some clown in DC deciding your healthcare?”

No, I’d rather have a clown in Connecticut deciding for me. Even worse, this bureaucrat is trying to profit off my health.

“I bet you will be back because Gov run healthcare sucks.”

First off, this isn’t gov’t run health care, it’s simply another option. And government run health care does have its problems, true, like ours doesn’t?? Have you ever asked yourself, if single-payer is so terrible, why has no country that has adopted it ever gone back to a soley private system?

Because they can’t.

Hey that is Blake Curd. I hear he is a rising star in the party!

Braden, why don’t you take a trip and visit some of these countries, check out there health care system. While your at it check out there other freedoms, or lack there of.

Dr. Curd is the latest rock star in the GOP, according to my granddaughter.

But this Allen Unruh…he’s ACTUALLY a doctor? I always thought the Dr. title was for some sort of honorary title, or maybe he had a paper-mill doctorate or something.

I’m over 65 and on MEDICARE, as a government run medical insurance program it seems to be pretty good. When I was in the military I guess you would call the medical care socialized medicine. I didn’t have many options but again it seemed to work pretty good. I think the public option has real merit.

regardless of whether it’s good or bad for the country, gov’t health care is unconstitutional. where in the constitution gives the federal government authority to enact such a program?

GeneK, i don’t doubt your positive experiences, but all we ever hear about the government health care programs is how they’re underfunded and going broke. they’re unsustainable, while giving the government an unfair advantage against the private options.

I would suggest to anyone who wants to learn more about our state of health care in America to go and listen to Dr. Curd on Thursday if you can. A leader in the discussion on balancing our State budget and a solid thinker who has an amazing vocabulary. Dr. Curd is one of those few intellectuals who can put forth synapses of important events into very understandable pictures. He was actually one of the few legislators who understood exactly what the stimulus money would do to our future State budget.

Take pictures! Get some pictures from as far up as you can go. Send them to the paper and T.V. stations. The crowds may not be in the thousands, but it sure will be more than were ‘talking’ to Johnson and Herseth, yesterday!

BTW, How is the government paying for this when all of the states can’t make budget and the nation can’t make due with what they have!?!?

Isn’t ALLEN D. UNRUH just a back cracker? Can’t we find some people that are really in the medical field to speak?

I beg to differ about the VA and Medicare. My dad got very good service from the VA and later Medicare. My mom did as well. Maybe we should get rid of those two programs and let veterans and seniors go into the marketplace to find docs and pay for it too.

dakotadad, the VA and medicare are unsustainable. one is underfunded and the other broke. (though, i would argue that health care for our soldiers ought to be sustained, somehow.)

the private sector provider options are almost always better than the government provider options.

one anecdote i can share: i do medical recruiting, and can tell you that if it weren’t for the beautiful weather, beaches, and ocean/gulf, we would never be able to recruit providers to florida. that’s because the providers there get paid much less, because of all the people who have retired to florida, utilizing medicare.

I tell you, I AM going to that rally on July 2!

I am think that with all those nurses and doctors that are supposed to be there, maybe I can find someone that can help me with my gout!

It’s not gout. It’s your brain traveling back from your a$$.

“Braden, why don’t you take a trip and visit some of these countries, check out there health care system.”

I’ve been to Canada many times and know a few Canadians, never heard any of them complain. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there are a few problems, but there has to be a reason why no country which has adopted single payer has switched back.

“While your at it check out there other freedoms, or lack there of.”

Ha! You’re right, the Canadian and Swedish regimes are SO oppressive.

When you ride a bike it’s hard to explain the importance of a SUV. I can get from here to there….I can carry my groceries in my basket…

“It’s not gout. It’s your brain traveling back from your a$$.”

Gosh Guy Smylie! Your getting as mean as Sibby!

LOL

I thought it was a good little joke!
