the Princess is so totally out to lunch, telling the peasants what they should believe. The truth is that they very specifically fear the Democrats being in charge in Washington because they are working on wrecking the country. Wake up your highness!

well, the crowd’s booing her should be a warning to Herseth about what people think. I guess that’s why she won’t have any public meetings with her constituents.

I think this will be a great audio clip for a television ad to be aired around election day when another up and coming woman takes her out of her princess chair.

She had the deer in the headlights look too. What an utter failure this event was for her. Her answers were so robo and so thoughtless, straight talking points that EVERYBODY saw through. I almost felt sorry for her – almost.

OK, I have listened twice to this. I did not hear booing. I heard jeers and laughter, but not booing. And when she went on and explained further, I did not hear anybody shouting her down. I can understand why she does not want to do a town hall, however. When she says something outrageous, people will laugh at her.

I am surprised that this issue is affecting Herseth, love her or hate her, an astute politician so much.

Could this be a Rocky IV moment? Is Chris Nelson our Rocky Balboa? Let’s go to the film script:

Rocky Balboa has taken Ivan Drago’s best punches so far. He’s cut and bleeding, but he’s on his feet and on the run.
- He’s cut! – The Russian’s cut! It’s a bad cut!
Now it’s Rocky Balboa coming after Ivan Drago! Incredible!

You got him hurt bad. – Yeah?
Now he’s worried. You cut him!
You hurt him!
You see? He’s not a machine! He’s a man!

im afriad nelson is the republicans, sacrificial lamb

How long was the Thune/Herseth-Sandlin forum? I don’t know, but it wouldn’t suprise me in the least if it was over an hour.

How long was the sound-byte that you posted? 37 seconds?

Yeah, don’t do anything that *might* be relevent, like post a clip of the entire forum or anything… just post the briefest possible clip of some laughter, and just pretend that’s how the entire thing went.

Tommy, don’t be such a tool. As soon as I can get more, I’ll post it. This is all that I could find while I wait for video.

Tommy, it lasted about 1 1/2 hours. Was good discussion. But the people clearly favored Thune’s positions on climate change and health care. Herseth’s blue dog status on this issue is not trusted when push comes to shove as she still favors a public option and this bill basically, as long as it’s deficit neutral (i.e. higher taxes to pay for it).

I am sure the blue doggie is getting a lot of pressure from some not so nice Democrats. I think we are all suspicious of how they will vote when they return to Congress. Read the Drudge link to an ABC article about how the dems wiil lose in 2010 if they don’t push through healthcare. To all of you who think that this administration is just a bunch of nice young people wanting change– read the part where SEIU is going to throw everything they can at the recalcitrant dems ( I guess that means her) what kind of threats could that be? Also, note the role that AARP has played in the universal healthcare push with SEIU. Hmmm guess Obama was right. I urge any of you who know any seniors — get them out of the scam of AARP–my family members have dropped it–oh, and have them write a letter to headquarters;

PP – “Tommy, don’t be such a tool. As soon as I can get more, I’ll post it.”

Of course you will…

Spriger – “it lasted about 1 1/2 hours”

Which makes me think it odd that the only audio/video of it so far is 27 seconds of people chuckling at Rep Herseth Sandlin. Whoever took that audio must have good timing.

“But the people clearly favored Thune’s positions on climate change and health care.”

Step 1 – Collect $1.2 MILLION from the insurance industry.
Step 2 – Don’t propose any legislation of your own.
Step 3 – Vote no on EVERYTHING the Democrats propose.

“Herseth’s blue dog status on this issue is not trusted when push comes to shove as she still favors a public option”

I have yet to see her, or ANY of the Blue Dogs come out in support of a public option, which would be self-funding, not tied to ones’ job, and would allow access to insurance for the TENS of MILLIONS who can’t get coverage for “pre-existing conditions” (ie, they atually might need to use the insurance they pay for).

Tommy, let’s be accurate. There are not tens of millions of people unable to get health insurance. There are at most 12 million. I even question that number. After you take out the illegal immigrants who should be ineligible anyway, the young people who do not believe they need health insurance, those who can afford it but choose not to, and those who are eligible for other programs but do not know it, we have very few people out of a total of 300 million.
Let us talk about pre-existing conditions. Let us say you are operating a business that will take care of autos. For a monthly fee, you will maintain and repair an auto. I bring in my 2002 Buick LeSabre in and ask you for a rate. Are you going to just offer me a rate or are you going to ask to see the machine first? If there is an intake manifold gasket leak, are you going to make me pay to repair it or are you going to just let it go? Explain your business model if you are going to just let it go.
Pre-existing conditions can be covered, btw. As I understand a lady who explained the law, if you have a condition the insurance company can only refuse to cover it for one year. After that, they have to cover it. Also, if you had insurance before, they have to accept you, pre-existing condition and all. If you had insurance for part of the year, they can only exclude that condition for the period of time minus that year. If there is anybody who disputes what I just wrote, please let me know. I am not claiming to know this, this is what was explained on a national radio show. I had no reason to doubt her.

TP, The amount of out-of-context remarks the Democrats spewed about Bush; I’d think you’d be able to appreciate a fatal statement such as Herseth-Sandlin.

She admitted people fear the way the Democrats work. And she can see why they are afraid. This statement alone could ruin her career!

“Be afraid. Be very afraid.” In fact – be afraid of the lying clowns in both parties. It’s time for a populist uprising people!

duggered….I went from a group health policy to Cobra for four months and then to private Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Never had a lapse in premium on any of the policies. Someone should have told Blue Cross and Blue Shield that they couldn’t put three riders on my policy..which is what they did.

My premium also doubled from 2002 to 2007. The ad they are running now is a joke saying they have an affordable policy for everyone. Go to their site and look up how much it will cost.

Puzzled, this what I wrote is what I heard the law was. As for your premium doubling in five years, I would not be surprised if a lot of people have had a large increase in the past five years. I don’t know if it would be worth checking into to see if they could do that. However, I can understand why they would want riders. I think you can too. If you were buying a house, would you overlook an obviously malfunctioning furnace? I remember selling a house and the buyer wanted insurance that guaranteed all systems were in working order. Do you think they did not check the systems before they insured? I promise you, if they found a problem, I would have had to either fix it or there would have been a rider not covering it.
