Chris Lien

We hear you clucking Dems, but we’re not buying it.

It’s amazing the nonsense that Dems feel the need to plant. Case in point, more falsehoods being promoted by Badlands Blue:
Talk in South Dakota political circles is running rampant that Republican US Senate candidate Joel Dykstra will drop out of the Republican race for Senate because of pressure from Republican leaders in the state who [...]

Brookings GOP HQ Grand Opening

MY two Teenage Republicans and myself stopped by to enjoy the fellowship of the GOP office in Brookings County, which took place at about 1pm today. The place was full with supporters, elected officials and candidates.

As you can tell, the office is appropriately decorated.

Unexpected friends from out of town made an appearance -
Dan Lederman, GOP [...]

Chris Lien political button

I hadn’t seen this small political button before, and in a Congressional campaign, it’s a little unique. There’s no logo, just mainly a little trinket to pin to kids. (Collectors - it might be a good one to hunt for by attending the next Chris Lien event).
Now if I can only get an Obama Tire [...]

Where did that one come from?

I’ve had at least three calls today from some ridiculous comment that someone from out west left at the SDWC:
Tuesday marks the beginning of a new political docudrama in South Dakota called “Switcheroo”. No, not Tim Johnson pulling off the ballot.
Failing candidate Joel Dykstra withdrawing from the ballot to be replaced by wealthy self-funder Chris [...]

Pierre Campaign Event for Joel Dykstra and Chris Lien on August 7th

Cen-Kota Republican Women and the Hughes County Republicans are having a campaign “meet and greet” on August 7 for GOP Congressional Candidate Chris Lien and US Senate GOP Challenger Joel Dykstra.
The Governor, Lt. Governor, Constitutional officers and local District 24 Republican candidates are also invited to attend.
I’m told they’re possibly serving a meal and the [...]

10 Questions with Chris Lien from on top of the world

He’s been on top of the world, looking down on creation, and today, GOP Congressional Candidate Chris Lien was nice enough to do a “10 questions with the SDWC” feature with me from Alaska as he ponders what the United States can do to further our energy independence.
10 questions with Chris Lien on-location from the [...]

Ignore the incumbent’s head start - Conressional fundraising competitive

From an Associated Press report, it looks like Congressional challenger Chris Lien has been nearly matching Stephanie Herseth Sandlin dollar for dollar since May:
Between May 15th the last report filed before the June primary and June 30th, Herseth Sandlin raised $165,000 and Lien raised $112,000.
Read it all here.
Yes, while she’s ahead 2-3 to [...]

Lien: Herseth flip/flopping on ANWR

Chris Lien is traveling to ANWR to highlight its vast untapped potential. And to highlight some of the contradictory positions his opponent has taken on it:
He called Herseth Sandlin’s position on ANWR confusing.
“The research we’ve done on her voting record shows she’s voted against it on a few occasions, and now she’s saying she’s in [...]

Aberdeen American News: Is there a Johnson Shield of silence?

The Aberdeen American News editorializes today that they wonder about Tim Johnson’s state of health, but it’s hard to tell anything from the impenetrable barrier that is his staff:
The public has a right to know - and to ask - if the senator’s health will allow him to be as effective in 2009 as [...]

Will it be a missed opportunity?

From my e-mail Box:

Show Commitment to Domestic Energy Exploration

June 24, 2008 605-413-8436

Summer is in full bloom in South Dakota. Time for Congresswoman Herseth to put her flip-flops back on.

I can tell that summer is in the air. And the election season. Because Congresswoman Herseth Sandlin is donning her flip-flops.
After previously voting against ANWR more than once….
A Prairie Voice – South Dakota Chapter, The Wildlife Society JULY 2006
“SDTWS members are encouraged to contact Representative Herseth to thank her for her vote and to [...]

Dana Randall running for GOP National Committeeman.

I had posted Ron Schmidt’s appeal for GOP National Committeeman a while back. And here tonight is Dana Randall’s appeal for the same office:

Dana Randall to Run for National Committeeman
I’m pleased to announce my candidacy for the position of National Committeeman for the South Dakota Republican Party! I am writing you today to ask for [...]

Is Dakotafest not having political forums this year? Let my candidates debate.

Dakotafest, the ag-related exposition which has stolen the thunder previously held by the South Dakota State Fair is the topic of some gossip as of late.
While not confirmed, there’s word on the street that they might not hold the political forums this year which had quickly become one of the premiere political stages for candiates [...]

Thanks Chris, and prime advertising space available.

Congressional candidate Chris Lien’s run at the top of the SDWC website has come to an end, and I want to thank him for his support of the website. I truly appreciate it.
Without our advertisers, such as Chris, Demersseman Jensen, and Joel Dykstra, as well as out other supporters, it would make it far [...]

The Beg Button Still Works… Advertising Space Available

With the primary over, and a few advertisers starting to sliding off the radar, that means it’s about time to put in a plug for advertising, advertisers, and the “Beg Button.”
As always, I have to give incredible thanks to my advertisers. DeMersseman Jensen Christianson Stanton & Huffman, LLP is a great law firm if you [...]

A Dem takes in the Davison County Lincoln Day Dinner.

Word is from the Lincoln Day Dinner in Mitchell tonight that one of the writers for Badlands Blue - Tyler -  bought a ticket, and was allegedly filming the event for posterity. Or at least for the Democrat’s own purposes.  The reaction from the Republicans there? Whatever.
Take it from me, filming at a LDD is [...]
