SDCAC

Where do I sign up? “Conservatives against IM10″ forms

I can’t wait to see how the propaganda wing of the SDCAC tries to spin this one. From my e-mail box:
CONSERVATIVES Against Initiative 10
For immediate release
October 20, 2008
“Conservatives Against Initiative 10” Forms
Pierre – Conservative leaders from across the state formed a group today to oppose Initiative 10, the so-called “Open and Clean Government” measure.
“We agree [...]

Paranoia and Rhetoric abounds, as the SDCAC attacks Dave Knudson and the Governor. (Did anyone tell them that we’re running against Democrats this year?)

From my mailbox:
(Just keep clicking on the images. They’ll fully enlarge eventually)
The SDCAC is on the attack against Senate Majority Leader Dave Knudson. And the Governor. And Bill Napoli. And the liberal media. And the Bureaucrats. And the labor union bosses. And against puppies and kitties… Oh, they might not have been in the letter, [...]

IM10 might be opening the door to gay marriage in SD. Seriously.

By the incredible amount of money that the SDCAC is pumping into initiated measure 10, you could say that they’re the driving force behind it.
Naturally, you wouldn’t expect the SDCAC, comprised on Lora Hubbel, Lee Breard and Steve Sibson, to be socially moderate just by virtue of the name of the organization. However, from the [...]

SDCAC weighs in on Johnson Race

The South Dakota Conservative Action Council weighs in on the Johnson debate issue (debate-gate?) with a press release issued this evening:

TIM JOHNSON UNFIT TO DEBATE
IS HE UNFIT TO SERVE?
In an unprecedented move in South Dakota politics, Senior Senator Tim Johnson refuses to debate in his 2008 campaign for reelection.
Many South Dakotans consider debates [...]

More on CJ IM10 Article: The Stockdale school of spokesmanship

From the Cap Journal Article on IM10:
Dena Espenscheid, the spokeswoman for South Dakotans for Open & Clean Government, declined to comment, saying the group would not respond to press inquiries until closer to the election.
Aren’t spokespeople actually supposed to be able to talk …..about things?  Or has the job  description now been modified to include [...]

IM10 smashed in the Capitol Journal today (and I helped!)

Great article on Initiated Measure 10 in the Capitol Journal today, where many of the problems with this utter disaster of a measure were highlighted for all to see. And, I even got a swat at it in there (although they didn’t hit on the more than questionable finances of the organization):
…a legion of [...]

THIS is speaking truth to power for the GOP

I had been writing this in response to Gid under a previous post, and since it was both an important statement, as well as getting a little long, I thought I’d share it with everyone. First off, Gid’s concerns over my previous post:
I don’t agree, Cory… I mean, PP. I’m tired of this kumbayaish B.S., [...]

Best insult I ever had. And we need to quit trying to burn down the village to save it.

From Sibby on-line:
When it comes to the Republican Party he is a team player, but when it comes to the conservative team…he refuses to help.
Read that here.
I have to say that this is the first occasion I’ve ever been called “a team player for the GOP.” And as an insult? Best one I’ve ever had.
As [...]

An aggregate headache.

From one e-mail note in my mailbox:
Dear Conservative Blogger,
I just wanted to let you know about a new blog that a few of your comrades have decided to set up.
It’s called the SD Shovel, and its purpose is to be a showcase/aggregator of South Dakota’s right-of-center blogs. It came about as a result of a group [...]

Is the answer to ask obnoxious questions?

I’m looking at my numbers for the last few days, and they seem to correlate with those things I’ve asked or said that might come off as a little obnoxious.

Monday - Tim Johnson can’t debate,  Doug Lund on Johnson’s abilities.  My numbers go up.
Tuesday - GOP Republican Tide Rolls Out, IM 11 Polls, SDCAC send [...]

SDCAC issues their latest survey for legislative candidates

Since I lost the primary (but won a small moral victory), I didn’t get one of these.
But, for those fortunate enough to make it through the primary, the South Dakota Conservative Action Council has their latest legislative survey for candidates to answer.
Or not.
You see, as of this writing, we still have no idea as to [...]

SDCAC/Open and Clean in the field doing polling on IM 10?

While I was out moving a deep freeze for the next weekend’s auctionin Bruce, my wife called me with news that she’d just been surveyed with a push-poll regarding initiated measure 1. She didn’t know the source, but I think it’s safe to assume that it was likely the open and clean people, or the [...]

How much is the SDCAC putting into IM10? Over $400,000 as of July 7th.

I was looking at the financial reports this AM, and came across a new one for the Open and Clean Government act.
I had to look at this three or four times, because it appeared that the money that the SDCAC was putting into this measure was far, far more than anyone had initially anticipated. I [...]

Wait a minute. IM 10 doesn’t just affect my loved ones. It would directly affect *me*

I just had a realization.
In recent weeks, I’ve been talking about scenarios regarding “what if’s” when it comes to my relations and Initiated Measure 10.  I was thinking that I might be damned for my wife’s employment with a school district.
As I was getting in my vehicle this morning, I had a troubling epiphany. It’s [...]

The propaganda wing of the SDCAC pipes up on IM 10

From today at Sibby Online, the propaganda wing of the South Dakota Conservative Action Council pipes up on initiated measure 10 and how the measure was smashed by both parties at their recent political conventions:
We have lost South Dakota’s state motto, “Under God the People Rule”. It is time to stop with the Democrat versus [...]

SDCAC in violation of South Dakota Campaign Finance Law? You Decide.

I’ve been probing the question of the propriety of the SDCAC’s donations to the Open and Clean Government act, and the SDCAC’s continued refusal to disclose the source of their donations.
In looking at it deeper, I think they might have some serious explaining to do. Some very serious explaining.
Just as a refresher, let’s look back [...]

3 posts in a row?

I see for the third day running, the mountain man of the northern plains is aiming at me with an almost marshmallow-like focus.
If he starts asking for a lock of my hair for his pillow, or calling himself “buffalo bill,” I might start to get concerned.
Until then,  I’ll continue to ask him and the SDCAC [...]

The prince of the ozarks returns…

I see the Sibmeister has returned from his vacation just in time to take a couple of pokes at me. Apparently, I’m not his favorite person anymore because I disagree with portions of Initiated Measure 10.
Acting as the propaganda wing of the SDCAC, the Sibinator persists in trying to convince us all that we should [...]

Open and Clean goes from attack dog, to whipped puppy

What a difference a week makes.
A week ago, during the Republican convention, the Open and Clean Government act tag team (The ballot issue people and the SDCAC) vehemently protested the inclusion of a Republican party convention resolution opposing initiated measure 10.
After the resolution passed? They sent out twin press releases blasting the Republican organizational structure [...]

Former State Representative Bill Peterson came up with the catchy quip “Free Pat Powers” after my 2 minutes of comments at the GOP State Convention where I explained how under initiated measure 10, my rights of free speech as expressed in the form of political contributions would be abridged because my wife holds an employment [...]
