Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween.
I had some “true” ghost story audio I was going to post in the spirit of the holiday, but I didn’t get back from Sioux Falls in time to edit the clip. If I find time tonight, I might get it posted.
Otherwise, get out by that front door and hand some candy out (as [...]
More on Klaudt.
KELO and the Argus have more on Ted Klaudt, but the testimony is so horrific, I really don’t care to put it up here.
One commenter in a previous post was suggesting that Ted be thrown to the mob, and he’d get a just comeuppance there.
I’m not so sure about that. Not because of “the rule [...]
Initial Hunt Report…
I’m getting a little information here and there about this year’s Governor’s hunt, and some of it is proving interesting. Aside from the mundane, such as a record number of birds being shot (over 1200), I’m also catching a few things about the event itself.
The juiciest tidbit (Which I’ve got to corroborate) was a report [...]
More from KELO on the Klaudt trial
The latest from KELO on the Klaudt trial regarding the sexual abuse of his foster daughters:
In the courtroom, Klaudt wiped tears from his eyes as the remainder of the interview played for the jury, his voice on the recording, insisting he wanted to help his former foster child.
In the tape Klaudt only admitted to performing [...]
A sad note - former Representative Walt Zabel passes away.
Often you read about the passing of many people who you only know by reading about in the newspaper. Unfortunately, as of late I keep seeing too many politicians who are going home to their creator that I’d known personally, or at the least our paths crossed and I’d had the opportunity to enjoy their [...]
It’s easier to affix blame than to take responsibility.
As I’d hoped the silly Sibby sob story soap opera had reached it’s peak, this morning, I see Sibby invokes my name again as the cause for his “Black Monday.”
I have more thoughts about what Pat Powers has done, but like other nasty issues, I had decided they are not important in the overall scope [...]
Quote of the day - It might have been immoral, but not “Illegal”
“This was not the product of force. This was not the product of coercion. It’s something that was immoral and wrong, but it was not forcible rape.”
- Defense attorney Tim Rensch as he explains how Ted Klaudt examining his foster daughters might have been immoral, but not rape. (AP in Rapid City Journal)
KDLT: Nooooo… I can’t take it anymore….
KDLT was just showing me once again tonight why they’re #4 in a market with 3 news broadcasts.
The promo for the Klaudt story had Staci Steinhagen talking about a State Senator being accused of sexual misconduct. Guys, Klaudt was never in the senate. Did anyone bother to check anything so basic as what his legislative [...]
So, does this mean he’d fight pipelines and other forms of energy development as Governor?

TransCanada Files Eminent Domain
On Nine More South Dakota Landowners
On Friday, October 25, 2007, TransCanada filed eminent domain papers of 9 additional landowners, bringing the number of South Dakota landowners condemned [...]
Is somebody kidding?
When you consent, even under false pretenses, that’s something other than rape”
Terry Woster gets the duty on behalf of the Argus Leader of sitting in the Klaudt trial for the accusations that Ted sexually abused his foster daughters. I wonder how often he’s rolling his eyes in disbelief as he might have when he had to listen to this :
Defense attorney Tim Rensch said he would [...]
Updates, and a helpful widget to let everyone know how people are voting.
If you haven’t noticed, I’m trying to “gussy up” my website in preparation for the 2008 cycle.
I was noticing a few of the widgets up on Todd Epp’s website, and I thought it might be worthwhile to try building a useful one myself.
So, if you’ll notice down on the right, via the Washington Post’s RSS [...]
Daugaard speaks about his kitty.
His campaign kitty, silly.
At Keloland.com, where I’m monitoring the chatter on the Klaudt trial as it unfolds, they have another story on Lt. Dennis Daugaard’s fundraising efforts this year:
South Dakota Lieutenant Governor Dennis Daugaard says he’s pleased with initial response to his campaign for governor in 2010.
and…
Daugaard says he started early because he doesn’t [...]
KELO: Klaudt juror selection beginning.
KELO is reporting this noon that the Jury selection for the Klaudt Trial is beginning. I can’t imagine what types of questions they’d ask this Jury pool to try to see if they’re an unbiased jury of his peers.
What on earth would the opposing attorneys ask this pool?
Do you have anything against someone who owns [...]
Let the recall commence!
According to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader’s website, it looks like the recall is about to begin for Yankton Mayor (and former Democratic Legislative Candidate) Curt Bernard and Commissioner Dan Rupiper:
The city finance officer will determine if the petitions contain the 1,2258 valid signatures needed for the recall election.
Critics of the two officials have complained [...]
Well, that was a mistake….
You know, I’d kind of felt bad yesterday about what in retrospect was rubbing salt in the still rawly wounded pride of Steve Sibson as he withdrew from the GOP, so I took down my post.
And I see this morning that I shouldn’t have bothered:
Before I move forward with a renewed focus on restoring traditional [...]
Second thoughts… Well, no. But no need to be mean about it.
I’m taking down my last post where I do a little name calling, and take another shot at Steve Sibson’s wounded pride with regards to my thoughts on his withdrawing from the GOP and his talk as he considers running as an independent. Did I mean it? Well, I wrote it, didn’t I.
Then again, there’s [...]
Is the review coming?
According to the Voices blog, the long awaited Argus review for Jon Lauck’s Daschle v. Thune is supposedly coming in the near future:
…it wouldn’t be fair to Jon to have somebody here review a book in which we’re criticized. It puts the reviewer in an impossible spot, and it doesn’t give the book a fair [...]
…. And Steve wimps out, proving my point.
Steve Sibson just proved the point of my last post just beautifully.
Pat Powers latest post just slammed the GOP door shut regarding this warrior for the cause of restoring America.
Read it here.
“Warrior for the cause of restoring America?” Bwaaa ha ha ha. That’s a good one. The mighty warrior who slinks away and takes his [...]
Contending with a “sibbyish” state of mind.
As you probably notice below, I had to stop and count to ten before I responded to one of Steve Sibson’s most recent postings. And before I could do so, I find myself having to respond to another. When I read them, I kind of found them irritating. And I gathered from his on-line musings [...]
I’m going to count to ten first…..
I see Steve Sibson’s over at his website today jumping to conclusions..
I’m going to count to ten first, before I respond.
