As Mickelson bows out… Kristi opens the door, just a crack

From the updated story on Mickelson getting out of the race:

kristi noem headshot May 21 2014Noem’s chief of staff, Jordan Stoick, confirmed Thursday the Congresswoman was considering a bid for governor.

“Kristi’s main focus right now is on the position she was just re-elected to, but she’s received encouragement from across the state to run for governor in 2018 and is giving it serious consideration,” Stoick said.

  1. Noem wants to run for Gov, but her donors and the base of the GOP do not want her to leave Congress. This could get interesting. Noem isn’t nearly as popular in her party as she may think.

  2. I recall Noem saying something like this would be her last term if Clinton was elected since it’s so frustrating having the Dem President blocking every good bill. With Trump elected she may more enjoy being in DC. But with Mickelson out of the way , Gov. may be more attractive.

  3. I remember Senator Thune telling the House Caucus that when he first went to Congress he got up every day and asked how he could make America better but in the last few years he asked how can we stop the harm being done to our country.
I’m assuming Congresswoman Noem has had this exact thought process and agree that with Trump becoming our President everything will hopefully change for both.

  4. It’s going to look pretty bad when she rolls those millions from those D.C. PACs into her state account to run for Governor.
