AZ Congresswoman Shot

From NPR.  News reports are unclear at this time if the Congresswoman was killed or survived the attack.

There are no words for this unspeakable act.  We have a great system in our country that allows us to disagree and voice our opinions.  Violence isn’t the answer.

My prayers and thoughts are with the Congresswoman, her family and her staff.

Yes, we SHOULD have a system that allows disagreement in a civilized atmosphere.
But when you use highly charged rhethoric as reported thus:
“While there is no evidence at this point to suggest that the shooting was politically motivated, Matt Yglesias points out that an anti-Giffords event was held in June with the billing: “Get on Target for Victory in November. Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office. Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly.””

Rep. Giffords was also on Sarah Palin’s “target list.”…one in which her Congrreessional District was targeted with a “bullseye” on a map of Congressional races. Guess what? That map has now been taken down.
I have no doubt the shooter in custody is an unbalanced fool. But the overheated rhetoric in politics today reaches unbalanced fools and speaks to them in a way the rest of us likely shrug off. It really is time to knock off the gun-centric, overly testosteroned claptrap.

My thoughts and prayers go out for all involved.

    THC-
Instead of pointing fingers already just pray for her, the people shot and their families.

Hey THC say it my face. You wonder why your party cant get elected dog catcher with the crap you throw around. You want to use every tradgedy to prove your way of thinking is right then you try to shut down speech when they disagree with what you believe to be the only clear authority. Your party is void of ides and I welcome any opportunity for you to express yourself. I just wont stoop to your level and CANT be intimidated by the small mined likes of you.

God bless the familes, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

There is a load of anger on War College.

Are we all suddenly coming to the conclusion that our nation has some serious business to attend to?

You think this is tough medicine, look ahead to the times of health issues and food lines miles long as we continue to inject our food and medical industry with more government.

We ain’t seen nothin yet, but as usual, the sun will come up, tomorrow.

      Les,

I think the question we all need to give thought to is: At what point does any institution move so far away from its founding ideals that it ceases to be what it once was?

In my past involvment with business entities, community activities, you name it, there has always been a life cycle that is hard to defeat. The only thing I have knowledge of lasting a couple thousand years without too much change would be christianity. I do not claim to have those answers Veritas.

To your point Veritas, we are not a nation of the same ideals created some 200 years ago..so no, we are not what we once were, or will ever be again. Sorry to say.
