Daugaard 2nd most popular Governor in country

I should feel a little bad pointing out the obvious to South Dakota Democrats, but their willful blindness, as they’ve shifted hard to the left, is pretty hard to punch through despite using facts and a hard dose of reality.

Yesterday, I’d noted how Thune was tied for 9th most popular Senator in the country. Laughably, dems were out there yesterday claiming they still have time to find someone who can compete. Despite not much more than a month remaining until petitions have to be circulated, much less time to raise the money for a US Senate race.

He’s not running, but today’s dose of reality comes from the same poll – noting Governor Dennis Daugaard is the second most popular Governor in the country.

Leading the pack is Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, a Republican who won election in 2014. Nearly three quarters, 74 percent, of Massachusetts voters say they approve of the job Baker is doing, while just 14 percent say they disapprove.

About two-thirds of voters in four other states approve of the job their Republican governors are doing. South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard (R), Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R), North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple (R) and Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) all have approval ratings north of 66 percent.

Read that here.

The simple fact of the matter is that Republican leadership is trusted in South Dakota, and Democrats are not even a hot mess, they’re just a mess.

  1. Trusted, but not for long with all the scandals. The governor needs to man up and push for ethics laws, conflict of interest laws, and put some teeth in the auditors office. They also need to have better open records laws. Dennis and a majority of our leaders have proven they can’t be trusted without some taxpayer oversight. If they can’t allow us that while spending our money, they can find the door when we kick their a$$es out.

  2. Isn’t this the polling company, which allows respondents to have someone else sit in with them (like a buddy) as they are asked questions?…jk

But seriously, all of these popularity polls seem to speak more to the homogeneity of the states population than the actual popularity of a given politician. I cannot help but notice that in the more cosmopolitan and/or heterogeneous states the popularity of their political leaders begins to decline. There seems to be a strong and obvious correlative link here in the results.

    1. Well, if that is the case then let me just use some “Charlie Bunker” math and proclaim that Daugaard’s popularity is now 67%, because now I am signing-on too…;-)

  3. “Bernie Sanders is the Most Popular Senator in America”– Morning Consult—-Now you people can tell us how the polls can’t be trusted?

  4. Raise taxes, increase govt spending, and create more government.. it’s popular! Just ask #1 US Senator Bernie Sanders!

For conservative Republicans, who pay attention? Daugaard ranks next to fellow Chicago lawyer Obama.

  5. Why the democrats insult the voters because we’re too dumb to see their brilliance of the candidates they put up?
Rick Willand and similar far left candidates that have no success outside his Daschle appointments. That party is bankrupt but full of far left ideas that won’t even get them elected in purple states. They have no bench but Mike nut job Huether who democrats can’t stand. Mike and Rick will probably run for gov and lieutenant gov. Then wonder why they lost

  6. Governor Daugaard will be remembered as one of our greatest governors, hands down. He delivered a surplus following the messes created by Rounds. He is a great guy, and Tony is one of our best Chief of Staffs….not even a close second out there. We are lucky to have both of these guys.

    1. Anon I thought the Sioux got rid of all of their wacky tobacy but I see you must of got a hold of some before they destroyed the stash
