“It’s incredible that Senate Democrats would repeatedly block a bill that funds our troops and their families …”

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) issued the following statement after Senate Democrats blocked the Department of Defense (DoD) appropriations bill, which includes important funding for our military personnel, their families, weapons, readiness, and infrastructure projects that contribute to our national security:

“It’s incredible that Senate Democrats would repeatedly block a bill that funds our troops and their families, but even more perplexing since this bill meets the spending level Democrats agreed to just last week,” said Thune. “Today’s filibuster proves that Democrats are willing to risk the safety and security of our armed forces for vague reasons they have yet to fully explain. Senate Republicans have worked in good faith with Democrats to keep this bill moving forward. Democrats must now do their part and abandon this cynical strategy immediately.”

This is the third time this year that Democrats have prevented the Senate from considering the DoD appropriations bill, which garnered broad bipartisan support in committee and complies with the two-year budget deal Congress passed just last week.

  1. Tell us John about Senators Webb bill ,to provide more stipend to vets on that bill for college.Tell how in the past how you voted for mandatory funding healh care for all vets.Press releases just don’t get it anymore.

    1. Active service personnel do not need “stipends for college” or mandatory funding for health care.

Let me guess, wha now–you’ve never served in the military?

  2. See ,this funding bill is not about funding services once they leave the military. You know that, right?

Thus your rants about “stipends for college” and “health care” going unfunded is simply not relevant. Those would be VA funding issues, not DoD.

But we know why you commented–you wanted to rant against Sen. Thune even on a DoD funding bill that has nothing to do with your gripes. We got it.

  3. whats not confronted with argument and that’s the best you got? when in doubt go back to talking points Thune and photos WEAK!

    1. Whack knot—Did you notice that it was Republicans who are trying to pass this DoD appropriation bill, only to be blocked by the Dirty Harry Reid and his minority cabal?

    2. So, using your “logic” what knotty, it is you and your fellow Democrats who are anti-vet, anti-defense, anti-VA, anti-GI bill ,anti-vet health care, and anti-American since they and you won’t support Thune in passing this DoD funding bill.

  4. You send them to war and wont take care of them when they come home. Its not rocket science, I am a vet and served during Vietnam so get over it.

    1. This email string does not reflect well on you.

Whether one is a veteran or not, ranting against Sen. Thune for supporting the DoD is un-American; failing to hold Reid & Co. accountable for not supporting the DoD is also unAmerican.

The only one sending Americans into combat is Barack Obama and he’s doing it illegally.

This DoD bill has NOTHING to do wait taking care of the military when they “come home”. You’ve been told that repeatedly, you know that, yet you continue.

Your comments here are not about vets, going to war, coming home, health care, rocket science–their about your hate for Sen. Thune.

      deal with it.
