Former Democratic Legislator kills self after drugs and computers seized as part of child porn investigation.

Wow. Didn’t see that one coming. From tonight at ArgusLeader.com:

South Dakota lawmakers remember Gil Koetzle, who killed himself the day after law enforcement searched his home, as a hard-working legislator who had respect from both sides of the political spectrum.

They also are expressing shock at the suicide and the child pornography investigation of the veteran Democratic lawmaker.

?If you?d have asked me to name 1,000 people who had a problem with that, Gil would have been the 1000th,? said Bernie Hunhoff, a Yankton representative who served with Koetzle in Pierre.

Koetzle, 60, a retired firefighter who served 16 years in the Legislature, was found dead in his Sioux Falls home one day after a police raid that took computers and marijuana as part of a child pornography investigation

Read it all here.

Again, wow.

Say Mr. Attorney Cory, when a person drops a letter in the mailbox, is the gov’t free to open it and read the contents? When I drop a letter in a PUBLIC mailbox, do I lose all expectations of privacy in regards to the contents of the envelope?

When I use a public phone or public airwaves (cell phone), is the gov’t free to intercept and monitor my conversations? Since the phone company ASSIGNS my phone number, do I not have any expectations of privacy in my phone calls?

Your suggestion that I have no expectation of privacy to the contents of what is transmitted through my IP address is well, just not very thoughtful. Predictably superficial. One would hope that even superficial progressives would appreciate the dangers of adopting such a view of the expectation of computer privacy.

Bill Clinton, John Edwards, JFK, LBJ, Irreverend Jessay Jaxson, Barney Frank, Gary Studds, Teddrunk Kennedy, Tony’s Weiner, Mel Reynolds, …

The Dems long list of problems with sexual issues, fidelity, and lies about such things is more than just an isolated case in SD. Predictably, when you have no moral principles binding you to acceptable mores–like the Dems–there are no repercussions when the Dems violate them.

A Dem with shame is indeed an isolated case.

My heart is absolutely broken. Gil was a legislator with whom I agreed little but my respect for him was great. He sincerely believed in his cause (a preferential option for the poor) grounded in human dignity, a dignity he extended to those with whom he disagreed.

My prayer is may God have mercy on his soul.

Amen Troy — and I suspect you would be suprised about the numebr of issues you and Gil agreed on.

The only discrimination that this evil participates in it seems is one of gender… This is very sad and a warning to all men.. God may have mercy on him but his thoughts and deeds did not. RIP

It’s time that we ban all these computers, and all websites that make reasonable people cringe.

Gosh, I wonder if pseudo-intellectual Cory Seig Heidelbeger will employ this kind of language to describe the present case:

“In this week’s dip from the scumbucket, the South Dakota Supreme Court ruled this week partially in favor of convicted … pornographer …”

Probably not, as the present case is a Democrat.

    What a sad mess.

Julie, there are just as many adulterers on the right side of the aisle. Let’s see – Bush Senior, Newt Gingrich, David Vitter, Sen Larry Craig, Gov Mark Sanford, Ted Haggard, just to name a few.

Right. And let us not forget the biggest Republican crook of all time: Richard Nixon. Though his crime was not sexual in nature, it needs to be brought up. For Goolie’s sake.

No one died as a result of Watergate.

Contrast Nixon with Obama’s kill list that includes US citizens, Obama’s Benghazigate where 4 US citizens died, the record death rate of US soliders in Afghanistan under Obama–Nixon must be rolling over in his grave with envy.

This is so predictable coming from the likes of Cory and the Dems.

When one of their own inevitably exposes his immoral or illegal sexual escapades, one can bet that you’ll hear the Dems’ defense of, “well, they all do it.”

      No.

When Reps. get out of line with sexual escapades, their fellow Reps. get rid of them.

When Dems find love in all the wrong places, their fellow Dems re-elect them!

“Julie, there are just as many adulterers on the right side of the aisle. Let?s see ? Bush Senior”

Sorry Jenny, you’re wrong on two accounts:

      1. There is no “Bush Sr.” (there is an Al Gore JUNIOR, and Barak Obama JUNIOR, but no Bush Senior or Bush Junior).
      2. GHW Bush has never been accused of infidelity. Congrats Jenny, you’ve sunk to a new low.

Next time, when you’re trying to make a point, try to use facts. Please.

George H W Bush had a girlfriend. It might be disputed among the republicans but that is to be expected. Republicans keep electing Sen Vitter to Congress. Sen Vitter is the family values man who visited prostitutes and liked wearing diapers.

    1. Julie Gross (NE)

Where’s your proof that GHW Bush was an adulterer? “Adulterer”–Your word, not mine.

      Put up or shut up.

      1. Julie Gross (NE)

        Okay Jenny–

I’ve given you several days to provide proof of GHW Bush’s adultery.

You ‘ve failed to provide any proof.

        Thus, you are a liar.

      Follow me:

The Vietnam War was not Watergate.

      Got it?

Benghazi and the coverup are Obama’s Watergate. People died, Obama lied.

      Got it?
