GOP Chairman calls on State Democrat Party to cease promotion of Women’s March over anti-Semitism and bigotry

South Dakota Republican Party Chairman Dan Lederman has issued the following statement, calling on the leaders of the South Dakota Democrat Party to reject the anti-Semitism being endorsed by the movement’s leaders, and to cease their endorsement and promotion of tomorrow’s event.

Lederman cited the National Democrat Party dropping sponsorship of the Women’s March this week over the troubling associations that leaders of the movement have had with Nation of Islam (NOI) leader Louis Farrakhan, refusing to disavow and denounce Farrakhan’s statements when called to do so this week.

“Frankly, I’m somewhat shocked that after the National Democrat Party rejected their association with the Women’s March group this week over the racism and bigotry being tacitly endorsed by the group’s leaders to find that the South Dakota Democrat Party had not only NOT followed suit but is still actively promoting the event through e-mail and social media,” Lederman said.  “I’m not sure why South Dakota Democrat Chairwoman Ann Tornberg hits the mute button when it comes to the state’s Jewish Community.”

Lederman continued, “one leader of the Women’s March attends Farrakhan’s speeches – a man who said that Hitler was a great man –  and posts her support for him on social media. Another leader throws out the dog whistle of complaining about people who choose “allegiance to Israel over their commitment to democracy.”  As a voter, and a member of South Dakota’s small but proud Jewish community, it’s hard to fathom why the State Democrat Party refuses to ‘get it.’”

After the State Democrat Party brought in Keith Ellison in 2017, hosting a dinner speaker with a previous association with Farrakhan, and now continuing their advertising of this year’s Women’s March despite national outrage, Lederman called on the State Democrat Party to respond “whether they will continue in their current policies, or they will finally recognize that the Jewish community is part of South Dakota’s electorate?”

  1. Dan is 100 percent correct. It’s beyond dispute that some Women’s March leaders admire the anti-Semite Farrakhan. These women, especially co-Founder Linda Sarsour, endorse the Nation of Islam, cheer the FOI (Fruits of Islam), and condone violent, revolutionary Black Nationalism. The disgusting things Nation of Islam leaders say about Judaism are common knowledge. Of course, not all Women’s March members/ donors share these views. I am quite sure the majority of women do not! But when even extreme leftists such as the SPLC denounce the Women’s March, SD Dems, most of whom are decent folks and few of whom are anti-Semitic, should denounce Sarsour and the other haters. To their credit, Emily’s list and the DNC have (belatedly) distanced themselves from these anti-Semitic elements.

  2. I should remind the GOP too look into the mirror when calling anti-Semitism in other groups. Talk about a glass GOP house.

  3. Will Chairman Lederman be issuing a similar call to Republicans to dissociate themselves with the bullying racism and bigotry of the March for Life?

    1. Despite the despicable views espoused by Farrakahn, Nation of Islam, Sarsour, and other Women’s March leaders, I’m confident most SD Dems are NOT anti-Semetic bigots who’d welcome Sharia law. The majority of SD Dems are good, tax-paying, law-abiding Americans — people with whom I disagree on some political points. If 70% of dems were anti-Semetic, homophobic bigots, I’d regard them as foes, not friends.

Do you feel similarly about Republicans, or are you one of those who, suffering from delusion or struggling to signal virtue, claims most Republicans are crypto-racist, misogynistic deplorables rather than decent, hard-working Americans who’d prefer lower taxes and fewer abortions?

  4. Multiple pieces of footage shows the Indian approached students and beat a drum literally six inches from a boy’s face. And prior to the Indian engaging the students, black people are filmed verbally harassing the students. On the videos, which many neglect to watch, an Indian is heard saying: “Go back to Europe, this is not your land”. Who are the bigots?

Our local media outlets should take down the story they have posted about this incident. Those children are in fear for their lives.

  5. I think one who is defending those teen boys in DC should have the courage to sign their name.

    Here are my thoughts:

1). Mobs have no brains and become inhuman. I looked thru the video just looking for one boy who showed discomfort and saw none. I heard once mobs are where individuals go to disappear, or something like it.

2). Regarding the antagonist. He was staring into the eyes of a real man. He first thought he was encountering one inferior and surprisingly found his superior.

3). People act similarly toward cops, military, etc. who they disagree with. Like a good cop or soldier, that mob was never any threat, physical, mental, or emotional to him. He pitied them.

4). We need to listen more, especially with those we disagree with fundamentally. That man was listening when he was beating his drum. I think the kid staring at him was trying not to listen but you could see it in his eyes.

5). Catholic men are called to be heroes in submission to Christ. There were no heroes in that mob.
