Here’s a picture next to someone else’s motorcycle 30 years ago. Bikers for Shantel launched. Badly.

It must be grumpy Wednesday, because I keep coming across the awfulness in all sorts of campaign efforts today. The latest? “Bikers for Shantel.” From Facebook:

If you’re going to promote yourself via something called “Bikers for,” it might be helpful to actually show yourself on a motorcycle, as opposed to pictures that are at least 30 years old where the picture happens to show the candidate somewhere in the rough vicinity of a motorcycle.

SMH.

  1. I just wonder how much these endorsements by individuals not really known outside their own sphere are worth? Where are the endorsements by conservative groups like AFP? That would get my attention far more than these individual endorsements, though I suppose every little bit helps.

I don’t know that Shantel has a chance anymore the way her campaign has been run; I have not been impressed.

    1. AFP doesn’t get involved in primaries as I understand it.

Maybe one of their representatives will see this and comment or maybe contact them yourself and express your concern or the candidate/issue of your choice.

  2. Is Shantel going to drop out and endorse in this race? I don’t see her as having any traction at this point.

  3. I not “the” SF Harley guy, but I am a SF Harley guy. I can tell you that a picture of Shantel next to someone else’s Honda Rebel won’t do much to energize the biker crowd.

  4. This is what you get from out of state advisors. Krebs should withdraw and endorse Tapio.

  5. Doubt not many 16 year olds had Harleys back in the day. I thought it showed she loved motorcycles since she was a kid. Lighten up, Francises!

    1. Or she borrowed one. Why wouldn’t she use that photo?

In anyone in charge at Team Shantel?

      Bueller? Bueller?

      1. I hate to be one of “those guys” but it does appear to still have a dealer plate on it…

    2. I wouldn’t vote for any adult that thinks a a good idea to wear open toed shoes (sandals?) on a bike, even for a photo op.

  6. Yes, it would be wonderful if she would drop out and endorse Tapio. He would gain a lot of traction.

  7. I would expect this from Dr. Boz or Lora Hubbel but not Shantel. It’s just a Facebook post but still looks desperate and terrible.

  8. I’m curious to see how Krebs treats the establishment of the GOP when she wins. I don’t think there is a group more in the tank against her than they are.

I’ve not see so many establishment people turn on someone who has a 50/50 chance at winning like this before.

I just get the impression she is going to win.

    1. We were very impressed with Shantel initially with the job she has done at the SOS office but when she ran for Congress her campaign really made some questionable choices that not only surprised us but lost any hope of support. She might as well drop out and run for re-election.

      1. we all have different circles but those in mine seem to be supportive of her. The next Congress person will be a US Senator shortly after.

        1. Fundraising off the State’s SOS site …

          Paid, rude petition gatherers …

          Bigoted, anti-Muslim sentiment (Shantel’s List) …

          For starters.

  9. we all have different circles but those in mine seem to be supportive of her. The next Congress person will be a US Senator shortly after.

  10. I’m the only person I know that knows who Tapio is among those I talk politics.

Most know who Krebs and Johnson are.

Most don’t know enough to have a strong opinion.

  11. Disappointing that she hired petition circulators and out of state consultants. She has a lot of support why not use those supporters to try to gather signatures? She getting bad advice.
