Jackley fundraiser last night in Rapid City

Attorney General Marty Jackley had a fundraiser in Rapid City last night towards his campaign (with checks payable to Marty Jackley for Governor)

And from his facebook page, it looks like he had a nice crowd there.

  1. Posting fundraising events on facebook is kind of weird. I get rallies and other such events open to the public but not $500 private events.

I appreciate that Marty has good events and strong showings. I think he will be a very good candidate and possibly win. I see no reason to think Noem will blow him away. I hope he can get passed this Marsy’s law problem.

  2. That is a big crowd for an event this time of year. My coffee group is all in for Marty and my brother from Madison says the same thing.

  3. So on a work day Jackley holds a fundraiser in Rapid City at 5:00pm. So he had to leave the Capitol by 3:30pm on a work day to be at his fundraiser by 5.

    1. So we are paying for him to campaign just like we paid for Obama to campaign for Clinton. Jackley is just more of the same.

    2. Time to drain the swamp starting with Attorney General Marty Jackley. The voters of this country said NO to Hillary Clinton for the same reason they’re going to say NO to Jackley for Governor.

  4. RSVP to Marty’s employee Jeromy Pankratz. Jeromy Pankratz is an Assistant Attorney General collecting a pay check of $81,000 from the State of South Dakota. Nothing ethically wrong here.

    1. You have got to be kidding me ?
The crooked and corrupt in this state have become more blatant and brazen in their conduct. No longer even concerned with maintaining an APPEARANCE of propriety, let alone acting with proper conduct and a high degree of ethics. Frankly, given the ‘nothing to see here folks’ treatment of the scandals trailing from the Rounds administration – Why not? What is anyone going to do?

  5. Yes that name sounds familiar it’s Loren Pankratz’s son. Loren has a substantail number of contracts as a lobbyist. No crony capitalism here.

  6. I like Marty but this all looks bad. I think he’s getting bad advice and listening to it. Marty you’re better than this.

  7. Jackley had a fundraiser in Sturgis on October 25th I would encourage one of our newly elected legislators to ask to see if Jeromy Pankratz or Jackley submitted a travel voucher to the State Auditor for this date.

    1. I was at this event- it was in November, not Oct 25 and Jeromy wasn’t even there. Sad to see Noem supporters go into the gutter so soon.

      1. I’m more of a draft Matt Michels person but I have know problem with Glodt and Pankratz starting a war with Noem. Seems like these two are doing a pretty good job of screwing up any chance Marty has at getting elected.

  8. Looks like Team Noem is planning to run an East Coast style attack campaign against Marty. The conduct of her team so far is disgusting.

    1. What has her “team” done? Do you think all of the negative comments on DWC about Jackley are from Noem staffers?

    2. It will be interesting to see how Jackley handles the heat of a real race. He’s never been through a tough race and hasn’t shown how he’ll hold up under scrutiny.

  9. WOW. These two will end up like Barnett and Kirby and an alternative may just come out of seemingly nowhere and win the GOP nomination, haven’t we seen something like this before?

    1. Wasn’t Hollatz speaking to republicans today?

Did she take the day off?

Give us a break about all of this.

      1. I’m not defending Noem but there’s a big difference between being invited to speak and holding a fundraiser on a work day.

        1. Michels is a capable person too, but he works for Avera, so under IM22, as a legislator, he is breaking the law. I don’t think IM22 applies to statewide candidates. BTW, 11;21, none of the state office holders work an 8 hour day. They work until the job is done and sometimes that is late into the night and on weekends.

          1. Agreed. I’m not a Jackley supporter but I have no doubt that he consistently puts in very long hours and I wouldn’t buy any criticism of when he holds a fundraiser.

  10. But it’s okay for him to have an employee be the person to RSVP to for his fundraisers.

    1. I have issues with him having one of his assistant AG’s work for his campaign. It’s one thing for his employees to make a donation, but it look unscrupulous to have one listed as the person to RSVP to for a fundraiser.

  11. I want that job $81,000 to advise Jackley on his campaign paid for by the State. And you don’t even have to be good at your job.

      1. I’m pretty sure Kristi has amateur hour herself with her staff. The bearded guy just watch.

I wish we knew who Mickelson was going to hire. I think they are solid.

        1. I am sorry I did not follow you…the bearded guy just watch…who is that? Josh Shields who worked for Sen Thune?

          Mickelson hire? Mickelson is out….

Please clarify…not being sarcastic …just trying to understand who you mean

        2. Who are you referring to? I’ve seen several Noem staffers with beards and some are better than others.

My impression is that Noem has a pretty solid team overall. It will be interesting to see who ends up running the day-to-day for her in this race but I am confident it won’t be an amateur.

  12. Maybe Marty should consider pulling a Mark Mickelson and saving himself the embarrassment of having his mismanagement of EB5, Gear Up, shady Marsy’s Law ballot opinion, and having one of his State employees work on his campaign become the focus of his race for Governor. The voters of South Dakota voted for IM22 because of these reasons.

  13. It is unbelievable that the Attorney General of South Dakota has his own employee, not to mention he’s a predominate lobbyist son, working on his campaign. For a small state in the Midwest it has some of the most nefarious politicans.
