Last Chance on the Sales Tax Poll

In case it disappeared below the horizon before you noticed, here’s one last chance to vote on our completely unscientific SDWC Reader sales tax poll. I’ll report on the results shortly:

  1. This is just a thought. The Lottery is at around $600 million. How may possible combinations are there for the Powerball? Around 13 million? So instead of instituting a tax, SD simply spend the money to buy up all of the combinations. Since SD is a government, the feds should have no reason to take their cut in taxes. We should still be good for around $300 million if we take the lump sum. That would be enough to fund the increased teacher salary for three years

  2. There are 13,107,628,800 (60x59x58x57x56x20). That is like 13 billion combinations you are off by a lot.

By this poll of educated and political people saying no and no and no , it looks like it is going to be tough of the Gov to get a tax increase passed.

      1. OK, I was off. I don’t play the lottery. When I asked Google, they used 59 balls. According to their numbers there are 175 million possible combinations. Total of about $350 million in investment. With a jackpot of over $800 million, still a good profit.
