LEAD Board member tapped to be next SDDP Ed?

Here’s a rumor hot off the press.

A source tells me that Stacey Burnette of Sioux Falls has been selected to be the next Executive Director of the South Dakota Democrat Party:

Stacey Burnette, who did constituent services for Johnson and is on the board for LEAD has been selected by Paula to be the next ED…..

Disastrous for the SDDP but more good luck for the SDGOP.

Burnette’s profile is available on the LEAD Board of Directors page.

  1. From her LEAD South Dakota bio: “Most recently, Stacey has been working for a national non-profit organization that is working to reduce health disparities for vulnerable populations in the state.” Strange way to describe the American Cancer Society (her current employer, according to her LinkedIn page).

    1. That is odd – why would someone want to obscure their affiliation with the American Cancer Society? There aren’t exactly many people on the other side of that issue.

          1. Since she’s connected to the American Cancer Society it could come from the idea that using medical marijuana can bring relief when trying to deal with the pains of cancer and treatments.

        1. “She currently serves as the Chief Deputy State’s Attorney for Hughes County, prosecuting in the magistrate and juvenile courts.”

She then graduated from USD in 2013 with a Juris Doctorate, and a Master of Arts in Political Science. She lives with her husband Austin and an embarrassing number of cats in Pierre, SD.
