From KGFX Radio/Dakota Radio Group, Kristi Noem deserves kudos for her Missouri flood legislation being incorporated into the House Water Resources Reform and Development Act:
South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem announced yesterday that provisions in the House Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) will require the Corps of Engineers to better communicate flood risk on the Missouri River. The flood risk communication provisions are based on legislation that Noem introduced in May of last year following the Missouri River flood of 2011.
Noem says she hasn’t forgotten what happened in South Dakota in 2011 and says the Corps needs to recognize the responsibility they have to people of South Dakota. The Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Bill Shuster, visited South Dakota during the 2011 flooding and Noem says she appreciates that her Corps related flooding provision was incorporated into the act.
