Congress Votes For South Dakota Jobs In Passing Keystone Pipeline Bill
AFP South Dakota Calls on President to Sign Legislation

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Americans for Prosperity South Dakota released the following statement after today’s vote of overwhelming support for the Keystone Pipeline by the U.S. House of Representatives.

AFP South Dakota Director Ben Lee said:

“We applaud Congresswoman Noem on her vote to provide much needed relief for middle class families. With 8.7 million Americans still out of work, we simply cannot afford to deny access to 42,000 good-paying jobs. American families need secure jobs and the American economy needs secure energy. The Keystone Pipeline provides both. The President and Senate should act quickly to sign this bill into law and get Americans back to work.”

  1. “42,000 good-paying jobs.”?—
http://tinyurl.com/kl5j3mc—“Because of the difficulty in determining whether the project would last one or two years, the State Department decided to express all of the jobs as an annual figure. So those 4,000 construction workers in Montana who work for 19 weeks were turned into nearly 1,500 jobs on annual basis. All told, 10,400 construction workers, engaged for four- or eight-month periods, are expressed in the State Department report as 3,900 jobs — one position that is filled one full year — even though none of the jobs actually last a year.”

After completion 35 full time jobs.

  2. I guess Kristi is probably really excited about the 250,000 jobs that were added last month. Wonder why she has nothing to say about that.

    1. What we should be talking about is the millions of dollars that will be paid in sd in tax dollars by keystone to sd on an annual basis. BTW, a huge chunk of those dollars go directly to education.
You can try to spin that any way you want but it is a fact.

      1. ‘What we should be talking about is the millions of dollars that will be paid in sd in tax dollars by keystone to sd on an annual basis.’

How much is SD collecting in annual tax dollars from the first Keystone pipeline that was installed a few years ago? Can you produce evidence supporting your claim?

    2. I bet Obama was integral in “creating” those jobs, what with his penchant for regulating the heck out of business and taxing the crap out of what profits are made.

    3. Very few if any of those 250,000 jobs included skills that would have been used on Keystone XL.

They were largely McJobs, according to the BLS.

      Nice try though.

“The refineries that are linked to the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline as committed shippers will receive between $1 billion and $1.8 billion in tax breaks. They are paid specifically for investing in equipment to process the heavy sour oil the pipeline promises to deliver.

The largest of these refineries, Motiva, is half owned by Saudi Refining Inc., and will receive between $680 million and $1.1 billion in U.S. taxpayer support.”
