PIERRE, S.D. – The Office of the Secretary of State Shantel Krebs has implemented a legal firewall separating Secretary Krebs from any information pertaining to the 2018 United States House of Representatives election.

As a candidate for the position, Secretary Krebs instituted the policy to protect the integrity of her office and the election process. The policy, effective as of February 28, 2018, has been agreed to and signed by all office employees.

  1. Looks like an abrupt change in policy after she got caught campaigning from the office on Facebook.

  2. Obviously a good idea but
    1) Why as of February 28? Shouldn’t this have been as soon as she started circulating petitions?
    2) If effective February 28, why not announced until March 13?

  3. Chris Nelson probably did the same thing. RIGHT? Even Gant or Nelson just running for reelection should have done this Right?

    1. I guess Gant didn’t run for reelection but if he would have I’m sure he would have set up a way to make sure he wasn’t handling his race also.

Did Nelson do the same when he ran against Noem and Curd?

  4. How long ago did she announce? This is the biggest crock of crap I’ve seen in a long time. It reeks of impropriety when it comes to her running against two others. She’s the Sec. of State in charge of election monitoring… she should have done this as soon as she announced. Better yet – she should step aside while she’s running- tax payers shouldn’t be paying for staff who aren’t actually showing up to work- but campaigning on their dime.

Horrible lapse in judgement and professional decision making. Unqualified for higher office based solely on her own actions. Drain the Pierre Swamp of its Swamp critters!

      1. It’s literally her job to make sure elections are fair and free of prejudice- how can that be done when she’s running in the race?

I also think Marty should have to resign. I’m tired of tax dollars going towards candidates who are still “working” for the people.

Want to run for higher office? Resign and let someone else actually work the day to day operations.

Are Shantel and Marty literally giving 100% to the people while campaigning for higher office? I don’t believe so.

At least with Kristi or Neal… we know when they aren’t showing up.

I bet you were really po’d at Obama.

        2. Barnett better resign as auditor because be works for the state and he’s running for SOS.

Sattgast is treasurer running for auditor. He better do the same.

Brunner is running for re-election. He better quit for 6 months too.

Kristi, Marty, rounds and Thune better also.
