I just received word that Senator John Thune will hold a public town hall in Brookings this month.
Location: Days Inn, Brookings
Date and Time: Monday, January 16th at 3:30pm.
I appreciate the fact that there are 5 days for people to plan. As our state legislators get set to attend cracker barrels, this is the perfect time for our federal officials to also take input from the public by holding their own town halls.
Cracker barrels are an important part of our legislative process:
The first event will be at 10 a.m. on Jan. 21. The second will be at 10 a.m. on Feb. 11.
The Sioux Falls coffees will be held again at the Holiday Inn City Centre from 10-11:30 a.m. on Jan. 22, Jan. 29, Feb. 5 and Feb. 26. Districts 9, 11 and 12 are the first and third week; districts 13, 14 and 15 are the second and fourth weeks.
Location: NSU Campus – NSU Student Center, Centennial RoomTime: All begin at 10 A.M.Dates: Jan 29, Feb 5, Feb 12, Feb 26 & March 5
The Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce cracker barrels for the 2011 session of the South Dakota Legislature will be held Jan. 22, Feb. 5, Feb. 26 and March 5.
The South Dakota Wildlife Federation provides a great service with a list of many scheduled cracker barrels across the state. The fact that Senator Thune and local organizations schedule these events with plenty of advance notice allows citizens with interests or concerns a better opportunity to attend. This is how the process is supposed to work.
