Happy 4th from South Dakota Dem Director. Maybe.

From Twitter, it looks like South Dakota Democrat Executive Director Sam Parkinson is explaining what the 4th of July means to him with a movie quote:

Er..yeah. Apparently the 4th of July means revisionist history and trying to explain away freedom and American Exceptionalism to the dem leader. Kind of sums up why no one wants to vote democrat anymore.

  1. So that is what Independence Day brings to mind for the SD Dem Executive. Maybe he’d be more at home in San Francisco with Pelosi. Obviously a frustrated individual who doesn’t know history. I wish you and your party no success in November, Sammy!

  2. Another reason Sutton, Bjorkman and Seiler are running away from being Democrats in all 3 of their races.

    1. Where’s Waldo? An AG that’s not campaigning? Just as suggested, AG is a stepping stone. Either quit your military playtime or run for AG. Good luck Seiler you got this one.

      1. “Military playtime” wow… With supporters like these, does Seiler need enemies?

      2. “Military playtime”. I think you should have taken the advice to keep your mouth shut and simply be thought a fool rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt. If the men and women of the military didn’t engage in their “military playtime”, people like you would be in big trouble.

I nominate this for stupidest post of the day. Any seconds?

    2. Don’t blame them for keepin a healthy distance with candidate campaign killers like Porter420 and the other toxic loony lefties insulting everyone they can and talkin out of their A$$es.

  3. Seems many Dems are running away from their party. At yesterday’s Watertown parade I noticed the slogan on Brett Reis’ car was “It’s about the people, not the party.”

If a candidate can’t be proud of his/her party or what he/she believes, why even run for office? The “people” deserve to know what the candidate believes.

    1. I have seen a few “Proud Democrat” bumper stickers around Sioux Falls and I wonder what they have to be proud about? Oh, that’s right, they stick up for the “right” to abort. Good job, Dems!

  4. The Founders had little to gain and everything to lose in rebelling against the British Crown. It was an act of selfless patriotism.

No surprise that those on the Left neither understand nor appreciate their sacrifice to make us free.

    1. Twenty years ago, I engaged in a polite conversation with a “progressive” democrat. He said the Fourth of July was a jingoist celebration of warfare and violence. I asked him what he’d prefer. He said (I’m not kidding) we should set aside July 4th as a day of quiet reflection to evaluate America’s conduct in the world and host community discussions on how to become less racist and sexist. I asked if there should be another calendar date on which national patriots might celebrate all the great things about America. He asked: “What’s so great about it?”

I admit, he was a radical. I don’t claim his view is representative of all democrats, especially not all South Dakota democrats. And this conversation took place years before Mr. Obama’s election. I recall that, after her husband became president, Michelle Obama said: “For the first time in my life, I’m actually proud of this country.” Maybe democrats would prefer music, parades, flags, and fireworks to celebrate that event’s anniversary.

    2. Thanks. I don’t smoke, but I’m honored by your comparison to the Beal family. Great people.

  5. With a guy that stupid running the democratic party this should be a good Republican year in South Dakota.

  6. To be fair, it’s a quote from the movie Dazed and Confused. Perhaps he was just trying to be funny.

  7. This guy is obviously uneducated. Of all the things I’m most surprised about the current liberals is how utterly uneducated they are. They don’t have a clue of very basic history and economics. And there is no limit to their perceived permission to insult people. Finally, they have no compunction to make stuff up if it serves their goal or perceptions. This Sam guy did a real good job of nailing it all in one Facebook post.

When I went to DC to work for Senator Abdnor (37 years ago), it was a place of great intellectual stimulation because whether one was liberal or conservative, the discussion were grounded in true intellectual thought. Today, what passes as liberal “thought” is really just irrational anger, cynicism, emotionalism and intolerance.

True story: I was recently told by a liberal that I “need to quit thinking with my brain and think with my heart.” Hello, I can only think with my brain. I feel with my heart. When I confronted him with this reality, his response was befuddlement. He couldn’t even grasp what I was saying (while they each have their place and aren’t to be ignored, emotions and thought is not the same thing.)

I miss the good old days when liberals knew how to use their brains.

  8. sounds like stephen colbert’s “truthiness:” a statement which isn’t in any book ever written, it’s found in the heart.

  9. Pat, Is the South Dakota Democratic Party afraid to post on their public website what they voted on in regards to resolutions and priorities? How many weeks ago was their convention?

  10. It’s from a movie. One would think a blogger who uses a fictional character from Die Hard as a fake name would think it was funny.

    1. If you’re referring to me, you would be mistaken. I’ve generally used my name or initials when posting, and have no need for a fake name.

Although, I should invite Bill Clay to come back and post. His job situation has changed again, so he might be open to posting once more.

    1. Yes.. I’m commenting now. Sometimes I use my name, sometimes I use my initials. Depends on my device.
