Stace Nelson slowly sliding out of exile, setting sights a little lower, and that pesky robocall lawsuit is still lingering.

This afternoon, I was sitting at my desk configuring my Raspberry Pi 2 for a project I thought could have some potential political applications.  And then my phone pops up with a message:

So, after a note praising Democrats on the now defunct Liberal Democrat website Madville Times, Stace Nelson’s next step as he decides to further venture out of his self-imposed exile is to poke at me on Twitter?  Really?

*Sigh* Why am I not thinking we’re getting back the likeable pre-2014 Stace, but the post 2013 attack-dog Stace who turned people off with a highly negative campaign?    I couldn’t resist just letting it go, so I replied. And received an even odder response:

I bring up Rick Weiland, and he replies with a quote about how he has to “stand with anybody who stands right?”

Yep. 2014 Stace is definitely the one poking his nose out of the burrow.

And that reminded me about the “Draft Stace Nelson for District 19 State Senate” effort that popped up about three weeks ago on facebook, as the second item of Stace Nelson news for the day:

draft_stace_watermarked

Well, if you go visit the page today – there have been some big changes in three weeks:

draft-nelson-for-something

Since we last noted it, the “Draft Stace” page has picked up “19 likes,” bringing it from 20 to 39.   And as opposed to running Stace specifically for State Senate…  Well, the bar is now being set a little lower, and instead of instigating a primary against Senator Bill Van Gerpen, they’re just trying to draft him for District 19 State Legislature in hopes of picking up one of the House seats.

And it must be a Stace Nelson lazy Saturday news day, as completing our troika is another news item that passed my way.

I’m told this afternoon that the South Dakota Supreme Court that the long, long lingering Daniel Willard supreme court appeal of his robocall conviction has officially been dismissed… because he failed to prosecute it.

What does that have to do with our erstwhile US Senate wannabe?  Apparently, resolving the issue of the Willard conviction was something that was needed to allow the Rushmore PAC Civil Court case against Daniel Willard and Stace Nelson to move forward.

So, at the same time he may be drafting for the State legislature…. He may also be answering the long ago charges of playing a major part in organizing robocall attacks against the Republican leadership of the State Legislature…. particularly the one he may be hoping to rejoin.

  1. Just when you thought it safe to go back in the water. i noticed that the majority of his “likes” are from those that hate the Republican Party. Why anyone in his district would waste a vote on him is beyond me.

  2. I wonder who the clowns are that are behind this. I can see them going after Schoenfish on common core alone but why would someone go after Van Gerpen? He seems solid.

  3. Looks like Stace is ready to return and ruin the advances conservatives have made while he’s been on the sidelines.

  4. I may not agree with Stace on a few of his policy beliefs but I know where I’d stand with the guy and trust him. I’d support him if he runs for elected office again. Still waiting on the federal investigation on EB-5.

      1. Black Helicopters? Ha! There is still the NBP plant now Black Angus sitting idle up in Aberdeen. Unless there has been an update
The former employees still have not been paid as a condition of the sale. How is our good buddy Joop doing? GOAC was a farce and everyone knows it how hard they try to spin it.

    1. Stace can investigate EB5 all by himself. After all, CBS made a TV show……

      1. Anne what the heck are you trying to say because that post of yours doesn’t make sense

    1. I can’t believe he let Rhoden beat him. Rhoden didn’t even have a ground game!

      1. But Rhoden had common sense, and didn’t antagonize the voters by being so negative on fellow Republicans.

        1. You mean Rhoden was rewarded by the GOP voters for not lying about other Republicans? It’s good to know the voters still hold people and their words accountable.

Nelson totally crossed the line when he chose to throw his integrity out the window by lying about others. Rounds and Rhoden took the high road and didn’t mention Nelson once.

          1. Let’s get this straight. Rhoden wasn’t a Rounds plant, but he didn’t try to campaign with a “ground game.”

Nelson lied about Rhoden being a long time Democrat, but Rhoden was in fact a long time Democrat?

Nelson lied when he put out Rounds/Rhoden’s records, but the information was actually their records?

Sounds like the nonsense the Democrats pull with Obama.

              1. Have you ever heard of Kyle Schoenfish? You know him don’t you?
                — The young dude from Tripp with the Obama bumper stickers?

                — The Frank Kloucek protege’ ?

                — The ambitious lefty who scraped those stickers off his bumper , re-registered to the GOP and succeeded in fooling all the chumps in District 19, getting elected and then voting consistently LEFTIST ever since?

                — The guy who opposed the Article V Convention bill because (in his own words), “I don’t feel the federal government should have to produce a balanced budget.” ?

If you don’t recognize KYLE SCHOENFISH represents a highly successful penetration of the GOP by a LIBERAL A-HOLE, then I’ve got a nice bridge I’d like to sell you.

                1. What are you talking about? I’m talking about someone being talked into running, or “planted” by an opposing candidate or party.

If you’re trying to say Schoenfish is, then please provide evidence.

                2. Chump you did ramble a bit off topic, but a question – does Schoenfish need to change his party registration back to ‘D’ prior to repeating the oath of office (known in Pierre as ‘swearing in’) ? Or, must he change party registration prior to the 2016 election in which he is elected Lt. Gov. in the administration of HisUncleMikeTM.

  5. PP,

Did you see Stace Nelson’s most recent facebook post about people asking him to enter politics again? WOW! he is always the most humble servant. He’s running but he needs to pander and hem and haw for the next year before he comes to the conclusion that it’s his obligation to serve. A little throw up in my mouth right now!!!

      1. Same old schtick…. “Oh, it’s not my idea to run…the people are begging me” The only one who’s begging him to run is his own giant ego…

What’s his plan?? Continue on all the “great success” he’s had?? If he gets back to Pierre, he’s wasted space again.

        1. the people asking are the same old arch conservatives and libertarians who think wrecking the republican party will “teach it a lesson.”

  6. From former Representative Nelson’s FB postings all I see is more of the same old Stace. (I’m the most conservative patriotic anti-government pol in the room!) Run Stace Run! Why not? But whomever is the Majority Leader in the House you run for and win a seat in better be sitting on a large set of Huevo’s ready for 40 days and nights of Full Nelsons!

  7. That Representative Gosch fellow certainly kept Mr. Nelson under control. Can you imagine when he is gone how crazy things would get with some less powerful figure than Mr. Gosch in charge? He has everything under his thumb right now if you read in the papers and is even pulling the strings on the other legislatures in the senate.

    1. Gosch will be term limited. Let’s recruit him to run for governor or AG. Maybe he can be Mickelson’s LG? Gosch needs to be kept around for a while.

        1. Are you sure you didn’t mean to say “He and Mr. Hoffman haven’t established their own fake draft facebook page to recruit themselves yet, or to buy fake followers?”

          1. I don’t need a FB page to entice or recruit followers. Here in District 23 if you tell folks what you really think they usually will vote for you even if it isn’t 100 % what they believe. And Lord willing I am running for another chance at being one of their representatives. Hopefully I get one of their two votes for SD House.

      1. Gosch for LT GOV, interesting. I would add him tot he list with Corey Brown, Corey is a solid guy also and/or maybe they should team up.

  8. this will always be the truth. strategy is strategy, whether you’re fighting a bullet war or a political battle. you can’t be a provably smart strategist in a bullet war, and then think there are different rules in a political war and that you can be a one-man battalion and be impervious to battle damage. if nelson is ready to behave like he needs to be part of a winning battalion, then he should be welcomed back to the gop, and if his mind hasn’t changed after last year, he should stand up and be mowed down again.

  9. Nelson voted and spoke as a real conservative. He opposed those who were not and earned their anger.

He was defeated in the US Senate race by a lack of money by a candidate who claimed to be as conservative as Nelson.

The page recruiting Nelson is liked by some of the biggest conservative activists in SD, and was created by one of them, not Nelson.

That’s what really irritates enquirer, and Mr Hoffman.

    1. if nelson was your man last year, then there just aren’t enough of you to make a difference. if he wants back into the legislature, he better hope you all live in his district. was mr. hoffman speaking to me? i had no idea. my statement about stace nelson just above this one stands as my constant complaint about him and his legislative career so far. if he wants to turn it around he sure can, but i suspect if he continues to be your candidate of choice anony2 his future won’t change much.

      1. face facts anony2. nelson’s whole approach to anti-politics-politics is an insult to people who use these political systems for good, people who should be his natural allies, and should be his mentors into climbing into ranks of significant legislative power statewise and nationally. i know it pains you greatly to hear that nelson should be mentored by the people you hate, but I’m going to venture a guess that you’ve never won a significant election in your life – so really, do you have a real better idea than working through the people who are running the system, and working with them to better things? you don’t have a clue, you have your anger. stace can’t operate that way and have a serious future, he can’t keep insulting the people he needs the most and expect to be given their power by some group of voters you can’t seem to produce. i wish all the best to stace nelson and i wait to see what he decides to do and how he does it.

      1. Ahh, the favorite mantra of the moderate rino go along to get along and just play politics as usual. Don’t stand for anything, and bend the voters over for everything.

There’s a reason why no one starts a page for old 180, 360, 720 or for Mr Independent not beholding to the GOP or SDDP “enquirer.” Their type of politics? There’s a statue of a booted left foot for their type of politician.

      2. anonymous 5:40 / 5:54 – you scoff, but i have laid down the existential truth of the matter. your lot is to embrace it or continue in ignorance. if you’d rather pleasure yourself by whining about how the ‘rinos’ are ruining your life go ahead. others will learn and grow.

        1. if you ever actually win a political race by the divisive emotion-filled politics you advocate, write a book about it or something, you will have invented something truly new. until then, prepare to lose lose lose lose lose.

        2. my posts were so perfect in fact that i never really need to post again. since all i ever get back is responses like yours i may not. you will be the poorer for it.

          1. You like the sound of your own voice waaaay too much.

We don’t need any more politicians like you, too many already, and arguably the root cause of the problems we all loath in America.

  10. I say if Stace is elected to the legislature we all send him a roll of toilet paper 🙂
