PP the telephone town halls you held were paid for by the Munsterman campaign. These are paid for by the federal government under the franking privilage afforded to elected members of Congress.

The Argus had a good article about these a while back. They became popular for Democrats to use during the health care debate because they could prescreen questions and cut people off when they needed to do so.

Town Halls held in person are vastly more prefered because it allows the public to express its self collectively.

Kristi is doing a good job in congress but we really do need more public access to our elected officials. It would be a shame if we Tea Partiers who rose up against Obamacare, TARP and the stimulus scared everyone off of holding town halls with real people and random questions.

Kristi is on the fast track to becoming SHS. The knock on SHS is that she had gone “Washington” and that she spent little time back in SD actually talking with real people from her constituency. It is becoming clear to this voter that Kristi is not a big fan of coming back SD to hold actual town halls and listen to the voice of her voters. It makes me think that she has a hard time with things that aren’t scripted to her liking; or, perhaps she can’t be bothered to make the trip. It is a problem and even though she is Republican we can not give her a free pass. We have many good Republican candidates waiting in the wings. If she can’t hack it, she needs to go. There is too much on the line. One of the benefits of living in SD is access to elected officials.
