WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today discussed the Trump administration’s recent announcement that it will remove U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada and Mexico, eliminating a major roadblock to passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada trade agreement, because it and the recently adopted labor reforms in Mexico were two of the Democrats’ main objections to moving forward with the process.

  1. By using tariffs now as a weapon by Trump, ratification of this treaty is now a pipe dream. Thune was warned 8 months ago on the dangers of tariff weapons and what it would do to the economy and as usual he was silent and continues the silence as we see the rapid global economic downturn. This recession will be entirely on the backs of Thune and Trump as there was correspondence to Thune on the dangers of the trade war with China.
